Obama was of course an obvious decision for 2008’s most fascinating person. No matter a person’s political affiliation or choice for the next president everyone can agree that this moment in time is an amazing step for America and even the world. Obama’s promises of change, taking the country in a new direction and his “yes we can” attitude and mantra grabbed the nation by storm. With Obama’s election history was made and change has already begun. Obama was able to break down barriers and open doors for others no matter their race or sex, showing that everyone has the opportunity to become president.

Each of these people has something to offer and is truly fascinating in their own way. With so many fascinating people it will be truly interesting to see who the most fascinating person will be in 2009; one can only wonder after Obama’s incredible history making election what could possibly top that? We will simply have to wait and see.

Where are the "It" girls? particularly our dear Britney? Or she wasn't notorious enough this year? Good thing she's back in business - the good side of the business ie. :D

Cris, I actually don't think that Britney or any other "It" girl is really fascinating, they might be fun to watch if you like watching train wrecks. However Britney might have a banner year next year and then she could be on the list. Anything is possible. For her sake and the sake of her children I hope she has really turned it around.

Strange mix of different people wouldn't you say? I guess for ratings they put the group together like that..

Interesting, hmmmm, but I'm really glad that we all find different things fascinating! It would be a boring world if all liked the same things. I still think Britney rocks!

Jamster, I think you are right it is a strange mix and I do think it has a great deal to do with ratings.

Shaun, I agree completely it would be boring if we all enjoyed the same thing. I enjoy hearing what people like even if I do not share the same taste, it makes things interesting.

My fav on the list is Will Smith. Love him. Great actor, great father, great husband. The list was a good mix of people. I like that.

Christine, I have to agree with you on that one. I think Will Smith is an all around good person. You forgot singer/rapper which I can also appreciate his style and that as a rapper he does feel the need to resort to swearing in his raps. Thanks!

LondonGirl, These were not my choices but this is done every year before the end of the year. I would think that someone would have to make a HUGE impact to change the list in any way. Thanks for your comments.
