If you've seen the films Karka Kasadara (2005), Annan Thambi (2008), 2 Harihar Nagar (2009), Evidam Swargamanu (2009) and Oru Marubhoomikkadha (2011), you know that Lakshmi Rai is one of the hottest young Indian actresses working in Malayalam and Tamil film. Since her screen debut in 2005, Rai has acted in over 37 movies and TV shows, appearing in roughly 5 productions per year.

Like many Indian movie stars before her, Lakshmi Rai started as a model before transitioning to film. While still in school she starred in television commercials for Josco Jewellers and Emmanuel Silks, as well as a number of print advertisements. Her first foray into Indian cinema was in the Tamil-language film Karka Kasadara, in which she played the supporting role of Anjali.

Since 2005, she has expanded her repertoire to include Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada language movies.

More About Lakshmi Rai

Lakshmi Rai was born in the South Indian city of Bangalore, Karnakata in 1989, but she grew up in nearby Belgaum. Other actresses born in Bangalore include Meghana Raj, Rathi, and Sanjjanaa. After proving her acting skills in Kollywood (Tamil-language cinema), directors and casting agents called on her to play more roles in Mollywood (Malayalam-language cinema).

Like the other famous Rai -- Aishwarya Rai -- Lakshmi is famed for her beautiful gray eyes. Light eyes are common in the northern part of India, but much rarer in the south where Lakshmi was born and raised. Though less than 1% of India's total population has gray or green eyes, about 7% of the top Indian film actresses do.

Being a sensitive and versatile actress, Rai is often cast as a villain as well as a protagonist. The Times of India conducted a nation-wide poll of the best actors in a negative role and Lakshmi Rai won by a wide margin over the next runner up. Audiences are enthralled by her convincing portrayals of complex and bad characters.

Loving this! Was under stress and came by to re-read. It's a difficult process, but so worth the effort...it gets easier with use and practice. I listen to music, light aromatic candles, and take warm/hot showers, then try to think of solutions and ways to put stressful situations out of my head.
