Fat But Beautiful - Everything Starts from Within

Hearing a guy say "Not a chance, she's too fat" what is your reaction?

Note: I don't mean "fat" as in huge, just a little extra weight or just very curvy

It's actually kind of distressing a guy could make you feel ridiculously fat (if you really are), you may even think being fat just gives people, or guys in general, a reason not to look at you, or worst is to make fun of you. So should fat people walk around with their heads down feeling unwanted because it's how you feel about it?

Accept That You Are Fat

I am one of those who believe that many fat individuals, despite the insecurity of being fat, can get along easily with everyone. In fact, their being interesting people help many of us realize how an accepting attitude helps glide through life.

My fat lady-boss used to complain about her body because she had big butt and thighs, and often we friends would go, "But you have great boobs, a really flawless face, and a great humor! What more could you want!" ... and as usual, she'd throw us a witty smile. ( We knew it!)

Too many times, the negative feeling is a result of those socially imposed ideals that are supposed to make the "perfect" human being. Entertaining the feeling of being ''socially unacceptable" makes you feel unaccepted. This feeling can brush off the best in a person because of the mind insisting on unworthiness," or, worse still, responding by putting yourself down: “I think this shirt makes my arms look huge.. or "Oh no... my belly fats are showing; there’s no way that’s sexy.”

Many people's idea of something sexy is sensuality over outside beauty. So perhaps you're the sensual woman, or someone with gorgeous legs, beautiful skin (like most), a pretty face, or a CHARMING ATTITUDE!

When You Love Yourself, You Look Your Best

Be well-groomed, clean and fresh all the time. You may be fat if you exude a whiff of refreshing mint or romantic scent, has a glossy-flowing hair, who walks with confidence, sits elegantly and wears a charming smile; you'll be a sweet creature people's eye falls on first. Even the most grouchy guy would not dare hold his eyes off your way.

Fashion-wise, any items of clothing look better with curves stretching them out. So you don't feel being sized out of fashionable and practical clothing; this is also where chubby girls have an edge over.

Dress with confidence. Wear body-supporting clothes; what fits you well makes you feel good. There are so many patterns, soft creamy colors, and little accessories to draw the eye away from your flaws. Choose items that you love, it helps. Dress hot yet adorably modest.

Stand and walk gracefully. The way you carry your body can make all the difference in your general appearance. Don't shuffle and barely lift your feet off the ground - instead, walk in a way that doesn't cause your body to bounce up and down very much. Practice by balancing a book on your head.

How you project yourself to the world is how the woman in you going to perceive you to be.

Even Yourself

Extra weight or not, beauty is not about perfection, but having something worthwhile to offer, that’s the point.

Being an interesting person conveys a message of an optimistic mind and heart, it can be a fun and pleasant company, a likeable personality, or somebody who’s warm, responsible and affectionate.

Society doesn't know you, no one besides people you've lived with and loved know your personality. Just because you're chubby on the outside doesn't mean your personality is engorged with Twinkies. Even small bodied people also eat just as much as people with larger bodies do.

In today's society, despite the most pretty face and the sexiest curves, a lot people continue fixating on some body parts they wish were larger, smaller, tighter, smoother, or just plain different. While you may feel you are too fat, someone else may be feeling they are underweight.

So stop worrying about how other people express inappropriate thoughts about fat people. Accept that you can't change their opinions, or waste so much of your time exploring why they need to make judgments about you instead of being content with their own lives.

Your insecurities being fat may not lie to you, it's understandable. But know that you are unique, one of a kind, and perfect in your own way. Are you going to allow your insecurities to hold you back from living happy? If you only hear a lot of guys say "She's fat yet there's something in her that's irresistibly beautiful"...?... you'd love to know he's thinking about you!

Take a Look

Regardless of being a little extra weight, very curvy, plus-sized, fat, huge, overweight... what else?.... think that a certain level of "plumpness" is attractive. Tap into your reserve of confidence and desirability by accepting it, and love yourself for who you are because you deserve to.

Great hub! We have always advocated the philosophy that beauty comes from within, and that good grooming is a girl's best friend.

While we don't think anybody should be an unhealthy weight, trying too hard to be skinny can cause health problems. Worrying too much about your appearance can also cause health problems.

This hub is voted up and awesome.

Learning about the big fat problem may be the only way to solve it in our society. I can say it with dignity, my two fat bestfriends and 2 fat bosses are among the most pleasant companies, as if they're never bothered of those bulges, they seem always doing something interesting, and people just find it irresistible. I thank God I got friends like them!

Like you Patricias, I too had been an advocate of beauty from within. There's no other way we see true beauty but from the inside. So overweight, fat or skinny, everyone can be beautiful! Thank you for your thoughts, I really appreciate it. Cheers to you two!

Bless you for being one of the greatest hubbers i see here. I know you have had a thousand and one praises from hub fans and probably mine would just be regarded as just the 1,002nd, but I have to say it just the same... You are one FAT inspiration with a FAT heart that lifts a FAT girl's ego. I will be Forever A True hubber Fan-A-Tonipet(ic).

Good hub. There was a time, before Twiggie, when having curves and a little meat on the bones for both women and men was considered both healthy and sexy. Like you said not an unhealthy amount.

Very nice of you. When we fill the world of fat but beautiful ideas, we all will live FAT in heart and mind. Thank you for being a Tonipet(ic) fan… lol.

@Nonna, how are you?

Yes, I think a certain level is healthy and sexy, but thanks to thin build short hair “pinny” Twiggy, born a Vogue difference to love a treadmill so much, or what about comfort foods to be back on track? :=) Thanks for dropping by Dee. Blessings for your day.

Hello Mhatter, it's always great hearing from a man whose heart sings for the good of others. The "crazy" rules are I think what rules the mind, and the nice ones are those of the heart, haha... am I making sense?...correct me! So happy you've stopped and read, my honor! Best wishes all the time!

I'm so with you on this. And I have noticed that those of my friends who are a little different from the 'normal', superficial expectations of others are usually more open minded about diversity!

Hello Cat R,

Very true, and we can say we're luckier to have them found us :=)... My fat lady-boss husband of more than 10 years is a skinny man who is always proud telling how a good cook and less vain in life her wife is. Like you said, more open-minded in diversity. Thanks for your thoughts!

Absolutely great hub. I was a skinny girl and I love being skinny. People would say I needed more meat on my bones. Then after having my second child I finally begin to gain weight. I'm tall, if I would tell a person my weight they wouldn't believe me. I have a curvy body.

I embraced my body changes. I think the key component is being okay, with who you are and having confidence within yourself. You have to love yourself no matter what others say. If you don't like your body, then it can be changed, but will you find unhappiness in that too? So again, it starts with loving yourself inside first and then outward.

It seems that those that have felt harassment or even racism, have a lot better understanding of such things.

Hi Michelle,

Surely you are admired for your lovely physical appearance and a beautiful heart. I must say your Dad’s example being content and appreciative of life has molded you a wonderful person you are now. Thank you for reading, really... and a Happy Father’s Day to your Dad!

Good day Cat R,

I'm not so sure, but I do agree to some extent. Sometimes, hounded feelings give way to better thinking leading to acceptance, which, in a way ends up positive, though good only for those, like you said, have a lot better understanding of such things. Even yet, many good people still give assurance by finding other good people to be with, regardless. Thank you for your thoughts, that was great.

Yep! Tonipet! You are certainly right. Learn to love yourself as you are, and the world will turn heads. Back in the XVI Century, Giselle Bundsen and some top models would've been considered too skinny to pose for Leonardo. Thanks for linkin your hub to ours. We will linki you back Tonipet. Great article!

Even in the old times, beauty require a little curve to call it beautiful. Giselle and Twiggy perhaps are two of what we call modern body arts, yet still, so many men and women continue craving for some plumping up. Thank you Joseph, you're one in a million! Blessings!

Awesome hub! beauty is deep seated. It's not based on size or symmetry as society often make it out to be. Men like women come in all different forms and shape.

Great hub, tonipet.

Beauty is inwards and not outwards. Physical aspects keep changing each moment of our lives but, the beauty inside will be cherished for years to come. loved the examples you gave and also how a person should be dressed if heavy.

voted up as useful and sharing it across

lovedoctor926 4 years ago

Great tips! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder! There are men who don't like women that are too skinny either. A person's weight has a lot to do with genetics and metabolism. For some women, losing weight and all that belly fat can be an ordeal. No matter how much they try, they are just not successful. I agree that beauty is inwards and not outwards, but it's important to look your best in order to feel better about yourself. In order to lose the weight and keep it off, a good nutritionist can provide expert advice and show you how to cook healthier meals. A good exercise program with a personal trainer can also help someone regardless of how overweight they are to shed those unwanted pounds. The key is consistency.

Hello mackyi,

Beauty is deep-seated – it’s awesomely true! Let society be, and let the beautiful fat people be, the world will revolve around its axis happier :=) Thanks Mackyi!

Hi Ruchira,

Fat but beautiful can be fabulously amazing. How would’ve Keely owned Bond’s heart for years if not for true love…. Isn’t it a real blessing to get so much inspiration from? It’s life, indeed! …fat but beautiful girls? I’m speechless!

Hi lovedoctor,

Thank you for the tips, they’re very important. My two super curvy best friends got a lot more men admirers than me, skinny, lol….. you’re right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And there are men who don't like women that are too skinny either…. You got me in that. So nice to have to dropped by doc. Please keep coming back:=)

prairieprincess -It's not the size of the body but the size of the heart that matters. I'm intrigued how SparkPeople make it to help so many lose weight. It helps the world spark by trimming not-needed body add ons :=). Thanks for sharing that. Have a great weekend.

Very well said, thank you Vinaya. Beauty is not just about shape, size and color, it's from the heart...from within.

I say, just be healthy and happy. People always have opinions. Even if you are a super model, there'll be limitations as of how many people will actually appreciate, support and love you. So just love yourself and those who love you, and be grateful for what you have. Peace!

Tonipet profile image

Tonipet 4 years ago from The City of Generals Author

Hello richday - Be healthy and happy is a very beautiful thing, my votes to that too! If we go content with what we have and appreciate every little thing around us, it's GOD-given beauty. Very nice thoughts, I really appreciate it. Thank you for stopping and please come again :=) Peace as well!

Thanks for writing this - fat but beautiful can be good. Have you seen the WHAT WOULD YOU DO? segment on the mother pinching her teen's belly, thighs, and back? She puts her down for wearing a bikini even though the fat rolls aren't that big! If this scene were real and not staged, I would show the poor girl that Hub (and her mother too, because she too was also berated for weight by her spouse in another segment before that).

Tonipet profile image

Tonipet 4 years ago from The City of Generals Author

Hello talfonso. Thanks goodness it's all in a segment! If all mothers would be the same then its another pain in the head for the world. My lady boss' spouse (she didn't know she was my example here, lol)... has always been proud his wife can dress smart, smells pleasant, looks really lovely and cooks well.

I don't think fat rolls around the tummy could ruin bikini days. Bikinis are for comfortable swimming and not to ramp for the most awesome body. If a woman is fat, of course she has those fats!... she could, of course, choose to wear something to cover up those part, but it's up to her - in my opinion. So glad you made it by, thank you. I'd love to take a peek at that segment (hopefully)... Keep up being among the beautiful woman mind and heart! :=)

This was a well done article, Tonipet....and you're right about being overweight does not mean a person is unattractive....We are all different....I have some weight I want to loose and some days I feel overly sensitive about this, but most of the time I don't....I have learned to accept the fact that right now I am a bit overweight and I am slowly losing the extra pounds anyway.

Thanks for sharing & hope you're doing well.

Take care, Helen

Tonipet 4 years ago from The City of Generals Author

Hello oceansider. Very true, no weight nor body shape alone can define genuine beauty, if what we mean is true beauty. It's always inside and out. Glad that you didn't make some of your weight to get into your way that much.

Believe me, the more you accept it the more you will get the energy to loose them. Results? Healthy heart and beautiful you... in fact, like you said, you're slowly losing the extra pounds. So it worked! :=) Others will love you for that great attitude. Thank you for dropping.... you too, I wish is in all the best. Keep up!
