The Daily Movie Quote: Animal House

The Gentlemen of Delta Tau Chi Fraternity
The Gentlemen of Delta Tau Chi Fraternity

"Cut the horseshit, son. I've got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode. " - Dean Vernon Wormer

Universao Pictures, Rated R, 109 minutes

Directed By: John Landis

Cast:

Tom Hulce - Larry Kroger

Stephen Furst - Kent Dorfman

John Belushi - John Blutarsky

Karen Allen - Katy

Tim Mattheson - Eric Stratton

Kevin Bacon - Chip Diller

Domestic Box Office Gross: $141,600,000

Synopsis: Delta house is the most unruly and undisciplined fraternity on campus. The parties are outrageous as is their grade point average, outrageously low, and Dean Wormer has had enough. Dean Wormer enlists another fraternity to help declare war on Delta house and have them removed from the campus for good.

Fact: Toga parties we're, for the most part, non-existent until Animal House glamorized them.

Trivia: This was Kevin Bacon's first film.

Movie Mistake: The price signs change when Otter and Mrs. Wormer are talking in the grocery store.

My Take: What can I say about Animal House that hasn't been said? It's a classic, funny as hell and timeless. So on that I'll leave you with two alternate quotes to get you in the spirit of the film "Thank you sir may I have another?" and "Food fight!".

"Toga, Toga" as Bluto would say.

My favourite quote is the cucumber discussion between Otter and Mrs. Wormer but then Animal House is just full of brilliant lines and scenes. Still the best college comedy ever made.

I agree, Animal House sets the bar. "The time has come for someone to put his foot down. And that foot is me."
