Airline Mysteries

Updated on June 22, 2015

Lost in the blink of an eye

What a difference a day can make. On that fateful and consequentially mysterious day of March 8th 2014, when Malaysian Air Flight 370 disappeared off the radar, carrying 239 people. Family members, sons, daughters, loved ones...... My heart and prayers went out to them. I prayed that this aircraft would be found, and closure would come to the families. I pray that lives are still out there waiting to be found, or that at least peace was found. I can hardly imagine, going back and thinking of the last moment before boarding the airline. Where the families gave their last word before this tragic event has taken place. It goes to show just how short life is, and how we should cherish every moment, of every day.

This isn't the first time an event such as this one has occurred; however, my hope was that this one would not be defined as an act of terrorism. This mystery had me glued to the television, looking for a glimmer of hope for these families. I began to look back into history to find out more about similar events. How can these things just happen?

Airline Mysteries Of The Past

  • Amelia Earhart disappears over the Pacific Ocean in 1937
  • Glenn Miller Air Force Plane disappears over the English Channel in 1944
  • Flight 19 disappears into the Bermuda Triangle 1945
  • Star Dust and the Mystery Morse code 1947
  • Star Tiger disappears into the Bermuda Triangle 1948
  • Flight 191 - Planes with this number seem to have the coincidence of disappearing or having issues over the last 40 years. The 1979 crash of American Airlines Flight 191 crashed minutes after takeoff, Experimental plane X-15 flight 191 crashed in 1967, JetBlue Airways flight 191 in 2012 crashed after the captain had a panic attack and had to be restrained. Superstition or Coincidence? Takes me back to the movie final destination. Do I believe this? No, but it certainly has my mind wandering.

This list keeps expanding, is this some sort of supernatural phenomenon unbeknownst to us? Only God know's.

Letter Of Hope

The families of Air France flight AF447 Crash victims had written a letter to the relatives of those on board the missing Malaysia Airline, offering support. I cannot imagine, but I hold onto hope for these family's in their search for answers. The whole world was watching also.

Dear All,

On behalf of the families of the German victimes of flight AF447, which crashed on 1st of June 2009, we would like to express to you our sympathy and compassion in these days of utmost anxiety about the fate of your beloved ones on flight MH370.

Alike you we are completely dismayed about the vague and partially contradicting information policy by the Malaysian Government. As MH370 is an international flight and booked by passengers from various countries you as families should feel entitled to approach your respective national Governments to put pressure on the Malysian military and civil authorities to speed up the investigations and to care for quicker release of findings.

We also encourage you to demand together with your national Governments right now and in addition to ICAO Annex 13 (Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation) a neutral investigation to be carried out by competent experts of your choice in order to safeguard full transparency and best practices be applied. In this respect the families concerned should also envisage a legal incorporation in form of an association in their respective homecountries.

As to immediate financial aid we recommend that you demand from Malaysia Airlines a first instalment out of 113,100 special drawing rights according to the Montreal Convention of 28th May 1999.

Watching your case very carefully and sending you our sincerest wishes

A Message Of Peace

I believe the lord hears and heeds our prayers. I believe that he is watching over this very situation, and in a world full of evil, he promises to be our comfort. This scripture has always given me comfort in times of trouble. He commands his angels to watch over us, and take charge over us. I believe wherever these victims are at the moment, there are angels encompassing about around them and protecting them.

Psalm 91

Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
my God, in whom I trust.”

Surely he will save you
from the fowler’s snare
and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his feathers,
and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.
A thousand may fall at your side,
ten thousand at your right hand,
but it will not come near you.
You will only observe with your eyes
and see the punishment of the wicked.

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
and you make the Most High your dwelling,
no harm will overtake you,
no disaster will come near your tent.
For he will command his angels concerning you
to guard you in all your ways;
they will lift you up in their hands,
so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
you will trample the great lion and the serpent.

“Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
He will call on me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him
and show him my salvation.”
