The Grace Card - A Movie Review

The Grace Card

I just got back from watching The Grace Card, a new movie on its opening weekend.  It was my husband's idea to go see it, and I had heard nothing about it previously. I didn't know the basic story line or anything, but thought it sounded like a nice idea all the same, because I simply love movies, especially seeing them in the movie theater.

After grabbing some popcorn and a soda, we went on in.  I am not sure what I expected, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised!   It is a movie that has a Christian worldview expressed, but if you are not into Christianity, don't let that stop you.  I went when I was kind of tired as well, so I was surprised that rather then get more sleepy, it actually surprised me in a couple of spots, and really got my attention.

I hesitate to say too much about it, because I worry about being too much of a spoiler in anything that I begin to say.

I will say that this movie is very "real."  I kept thinking that throughout, trying to view it from both a Christian view and a non Christian view.  Its about real people, in a real world dealing with real problems. So that was neat because it applies to all of us, regardless of what you personally believe.  You have to watch it until the end, and I mean the very end, as there are many twists and turns that might surprise you like they did me.

The message, no matter what your personal beliefs, can apply to all in the sense that its helpful and healing and brings hope.  Considering the world we live in and all we see on the news everyday, it was rather refreshing.  All that, while keeping it real.

Cast and final thoughts...

The cast is great, and I enjoyed the acting. So bottom line, I recommend this movie to you, and I hope you will go and see it, maybe taking a friend. If you wait to rent it, that is fine too, but do see it.

Howard Klausner did a great job writing this one!  I don't know what kind of budget it had, the but the directing was good as well, and the cast was great.  Michael Joiner, as the father did an outstanding role in his acting, watch throughout to see what I mean.  What a great actor, and I have not been familiar with him in the past.  Mike Higgenbottom and Louis Gossett Jr. were great as well.

I am glad to have seen this movie, and it comes highly recommended.  Let me know what you thought if you have seen it, or just feel free to leave any comment below or rate, thank you!

Thank you so much, Happyboomernurse! I feel the same way as you do, regarding things (movies in this case) that promote hope and healing. We need that so much in this world.
