The Look of Love: Who's Version Do You Prefer?
The Look of Love by Burt Bacharach is a classic song I remember I first heard during the seventies but I heard only two versions. The version mostly played by the local bands here was of Sergio Mendez and the Brazil'66's, and another was Dionne Warwick's. Later it became a popular piece for crooners because of its lovely tune. It did not make an impression on me until some time in 2005 I heard a beautiful arrangement with such a velvety smooth vocals. I thought why did I not fall in love with this song before..? The artist I heard was an Irish jazz singer named Siobhan Pettit. Actually that bistro played her album that day, all Bacharach composition. Siobhan Pettit sings so heavenly.
Here's a choice of 8 artists who's playing the The Look of Love. From Dusty Springfield and Sergio Mendes of the 60's to Fergie's hiphop style. Sergio Mendes' beat will make women's hips swing and men tapping their palms on the table ( or is it the other way round..?)Diana Krall has a very sensual voice. You can also fall in love with Nina Simone's rendition as well as the plain instrumental or guitar playing by Peter White. And there's Ron Isley's rendition that is sooo sexy.
