2016 royal visit to Canada featuring Prince George and Princess Charlotte (pictures and videos)

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge toured Canada from September 24 to October 1, 2016. They visited five communities in British Columbia – Victoria, Vancouver, Haida Gwaii, Bella Bella, and Kelowna, and two communities in Yukon – Whitehorse and Carcross.

For their second visit to Canada, they brought their children 3-year-old Prince George and 16-month-old Princess Charlotte along. This is Prince George's second overseas trip, and Princess Charlotte's first official tour abroad. This hub will cover some of the couple's visit and focus on the public appearances of the children.

As Royal Commentator Victoria Arbiter had stated, this royal tour was different than ones in the past, much more informal and relaxed.

"One of the palace aides has already said not to expect tiaras and show-stopping jewels. That’s not William and Kate’s style," Arbiter said earlier. "We’ll really see that lovely personal interaction that people enjoy from them when they’re on tour." Instead, Arbiter suspects the tour will be focused on the causes the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are passionate about. They will engage in discussions on mental health, the welfare of young people and addiction while exploring the British Columbia outdoors through sailing and fishing.

"We will see you again soon"

In a statement, William thanked Canadians for their warmth and hospitality:

"Catherine and I are incredibly grateful to the people of Canada for the warmth and hospitality they have extended to our family over the last week. We have loved our time in British Columbia and Yukon and will never forget the beautiful places we have seen and the many people who have been kind enough to come to welcome us in person.

"We feel very lucky to have been able to introduce George and Charlotte to Canada. This country will play a big part in the lives of our children and we have created such happy memories for our family during this visit.

"Canada is a country of optimism, generosity and unrivalled natural beauty. I hope we have helped all Canadians celebrate what makes this country great. We will see you again soon."
