The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special: In 3-D! On Ice!

The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special aired on Fox Jan.10th 2010. Morgan Spurlock Hosted the special crossing the globe covering many aspects of The Simpsons life not only in Springfield but, all around the world.

The list of celebrity guests reads like a census report for the city of Springfield. Guest like Joe Mantegna and Jerry Springer.

This special was packed with answers to questions most viewers around the world have asked their self time and time again. Like, where is Springfield and is there really a Duff Brewery?

We will examine this and many other topics as we look at The Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special.

Simpsons 20th Anniversary Special Part 1/5

Voices of The Simpsons

The Simpsons cast have built one of the most recognized array of voices in animation history. Theres no question when we pass by the T.V. and hear a voice proclaim to someone "Eat my shorts" or when you hear Homer Simpson yell out "D'oh!". You know immediately that the Simpsons are on.

The Simpsons anniversary special took a look at some of those who have voiced the characters of America's longest running prime time sitcom.

The first two actors to be hired on to the show were Dan Castellaneta and Julie Kavner. Followed up by Yeardley Smith and Nancy Cartwright and with that The Simpson family was born.

The Simpsons Celebrity Apperances Over The Years

The Simpsons have invited a number of celebrity guest stars to become animated and do their own voice over. Actors, singers, writers, and talk show host the list can go on and on. Springfield has played host to people from all walks of life.

This has played a big roll in the success of the show. Keeping it fresh, everytime they invite a new guest.

The special didn't go over the extensive list of celebrities but, I have found a page where you can find out just who The Simpsons have encountered over the last 20 years.

Where is Springfield Anyway?

Creator Matt Groening named the characters of Springfield after the streets of Portland, Oregon. The streets in north west Portland are named in alphabetical order and the names on those signs are none other than those of The Simpson's characters.

Even a school in the city is the model for Springfield Elementary.

So, sorry Springfield, Illinois, Missouri, Tennessee and all other Springfield's of America it seems as though Springfield isn't a Springfield at all. Portland has and always will be the home of America's craziest animated family.

Simpsons Memorabilia

The Simpson's have not only dominated animated television but have found their likeness on just about every product in the world. Everything from pinball machines to boxing gloves. If you can name it chances are The Simpson's have graced the facade of that product.

These products have made The Simpson's a household name by constantly putting The Simpson's in your face and on your face thanks to Simpson's costumes for those who want to celebrate halloween as their favorite Simpson's character.

It's almost safe to say that the majority of household's in America and around the world have at some point had some sort of Simpson's memorabilia within there walls.

Duff Brewery

There are Duff Breweries in Argentina, Spain, Mexico and Belgium. These breweries are operatingwithout legal merit from the people at Fox.

These companies are in or will be in legal battles with Fox. Most likely resulting in the closure of these businesses. With that said will we ever have an actual legally operated Duff Brewery? The world may never know.

"Krusty" or "Rusty" The Clown?

Krusty maybe one of the most dishonest and manipulative clowns of all time. Although, this is true of Krusty, the clown that Matt Groening gained inspiration from was far from resembling Krusty's wild and outlandish ways. Krusty indulges in booze and cigarettes while Rusty the clown enjoys sermons and prayer.

When Matt Groening was growing up Rusty Nails had a children's show that on occasion a young Groening would sit, watch and take notes on. One day while attending the show Rusty approached Groening who had notepad in hand and ask him what he was doing. Groening replied one day Rusty I'm going to have a show of my own.

Rusty was a christian clown that delighted children in Portland from 1957-1972. To learn more about Rusty Nails click here.

We will see if this family will follow us into the next 20 years or if we have to find another annimated family to live vicariously through.
