Things NOT to do, when you meet your favourite Celebrity

Who are Celebrities anyway?

I see them as people who are famous, loved, admired, rich and glamorous. Everyone must have a favourite celebrity they would like to meet. An actor? A singer? A Politician? A TV Presenter? I hope you get to meet yours someday and if you do, here are some tips on what NOT to do.

¸.·'★

1) Scream – No need to scream. Just stay cool, calm and collected. After all, they are only your favourite celebrity.

2) OMG – Some people say “Oh my God” about 20 times. You are not in trouble, so why call on God?

3) Body Autographs – Autographs are good. However it’s amazing the lengths that some people would go. Some fans ask for autographs to be signed on their arms, their boobs, their backs and more.

Errrh.... try not to grab their bum. :)
Errrh.... try not to grab their bum. :)

Michael Jackson and Fan

George Clooney and Fan

4) “I love You” – Now, why would you go and say that, especially if the person is in a relationship? Do you want to split them up?

5) Calling Friends – some like to share or brag on the phone with friends that they have met their celebrity. Some even go a step further and ask for the celebrity to say hello to their friends on the phone.

6) Cry – Keep hold of those nerves. It should be a happy day for you. No need for tears.

7) Photos – Take just one or two photos and don't give into the temptation of posting it on Twitter and Facebook.

Do you think you can manage to do all or most of the above?

..........because I can’t. ٩(•̮̮̃•̃)۶

.

It’s not everyday you get to meet a favourite celebrity.

Is there any celebrity that you would like to meet or have already met?

This is a great hub! The only famous person I ever saw was Monty Hall, when I worked in the airport...and my friend screamed, "HE LOOKS SO OLD!" There's another thing NOT to do, I guess...this is a fun hub...I love it!

I always laugh when I think about the Celebrity rock star I met. We were at a bar, in the early hours, and I'd had a few by then. I pretended I didn't know who he was, and went up and introduced myself and we started having a conversation. Eventually I asked him what he did (For a living) and he told me he was a Singer. I replied casually, "Really? I can sing too! Would you like me to sing you a song?" and I started singing the Jewel song with the words "Please don't say I love you...I just wanna be with you allllll ways". He had a giggle, it seems like he thought it was cute. I said it was great meeting him, and ran off to continue partying with my friends. I cannot believe I did that, but I smile when I think about it.

I've never met a celebrity, but I've always promised myself that if I did I wouldn't act like that. =) However, if the day ever comes that I meet someone like, say, Gerard Butler, I would think that containing the OMGs!! would certainly cause me to faint. =) Nice Hub!!

Haha! The best of us find it hard to contain the excitement out of meeting a celebrity or an idol. This hub should be displayed somewhere on the red carpet at the Oscars or the Golden Globes. What a delightful read - funny and amusing, just the dose I wanted with my hot cuppa.

This one a true gem to vote up up and away.

Hi Kelly, I'm sure you'll be Cool when you meet them. I have met a few - during a job I did which was high profile and managed to keep cool.... but if it were my FAVOURITE celeb.... I doubt I would be.

Hope you meet Gerard Butler someday.

Thanks. I hope you get to meet Susan Hayward and Clark Gable. The other 2 are up there with the stars. :)

@MissDooLittle

I'm guessing that is Michael Owen the footballer. It is, I admire the humility of that guy. I always say to Wayne Rooney (well, to the TV screen) when he is in the News for being naughty, "Learn from Owen."

Cheers.

Royalmark profile image

Royalmark 4 years ago from Lagos, Nigeria

Okay, let's stop and think. "Who's Royalmark's favourite celebrity?" Well, say, Ngozi Chimamanda Adichie, Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, etc., I'd not know what to do.

But if I see Mark Zuckerberg, I'll walk up to him and say "Hey! Whiz, how did you create Facebook?" and if I meet Enya or Nicole Scherzinger, I'll stay put because I might misbehave; if I meet Eminem, we'll have a chat for hours because I'd like to pick his brain and figure out how he thinks and writes those rap songs. :-D

I care about the autographs, they mean something to me. I'd also like to take a picture with them. But, shouting "OMG!", what's that for? Pretty sucks!

As unusual, this hub is short for a Lady with a golden pen in the UK but it's great, are you aware of that? It's precise, brief and spot-on. Kudos!

About the Enrique pic, I think that's one hell of a cute musician. But, if I'm popular, hmmm! kissing a random lady should be out of the question. Question is if I'll do that if a female fan just jumps from nowhere and starts kissing you. Haba! What do you think?

Lady_E profile image

Lady_E 4 years ago from London, UK Author

@Royalmark

Ha ha... I love your comment. I hope you meet all these guys. I love Nicole because she has a distinct look about her. I liked Eminem until Drake came along. lol. (the one who sang with Rihanna)

You never know, you could meet them all, at a time you would least expect... Just remember when they give you an autograph to get one for me too.

As to the last question.... What can you do? It comes with the territory. :)

Cute one! Years ago I was working at Universal Studios and saw Debbie Reynolds heading for the elevator. I ran towards it and jumped on...and then became totally tongue tied! I wanted to say something clever but my best shot was "my you're a lot shorter than I thought you were". Needless to say, I couldn't get off that elevator fast enough and neither could she! I was very young then, and I hope I will do better now. But like you...I doubt it! Thanks for the neat hub!

This is a good hub. I only have met one celeb. But he was my childhood hero (James Drury-The Virginian)who I truly admire. Let me tell you the shy person I am had no problem asking for one of those cowboy hugs which he gives out freely to his fans. I'm sure not many celebs will do that.

watergeek profile image

I've met a number of celebrities, nearly all accidental. Here are two of them:

- Leonard Nimoy, the original Spock in "Star Trek." As a teenager I was on an outing with my father in a Hollywood restaurant. A couple of girls went whispering & giggling hysterically down the aisle over an autograph in their hands. I was embarrassed for them. We were huge Star Trek fans, though, so my Dad urged me to get one. I demurred at first, but then stood and composedly walked toward them, paper and pen in hand. The minute I got there, I started giggling too. Jeez.

- President Reagan. Truly composed this time and much older, I met him with a group of fellow Peace Corps volunteers in Grenada, West Indies. I was into photography by then, so moved around and through the group, taking photos of my friends and him, some really nice ones. Then his PR people took a group photo with him standing in the middle under a banner we'd made and he flew off. I'd promised all my friends copies of their photos, but when I went to have them developed, discovered the film had not advanced into the camera at all. No photos, a bunch of apologies, and huge embarassment.

The most famous people I met in person were John denver, Presidents Jimmy Carter and Reagan(Reagan twice) and the last Shah of Iran! the last one is probably the rarest meet up of all as I was in basic training when the hostage situation was going on and the Shah was in the hospital at Lackland Air Force base in Texas1 I wa sdoing a routine pick up of some paperwork when I saw the man sitting in the hallway and dropped a pen. I picked it up and recognized him immediately! I saluted , he saluted back . And that night I was given a special award of a free pass for knowing that we salute leaders of other countries as well as our own!

I wish!! Those wold be worth some money! and with all the moving I have done thru the years , they probably would have gotten lost in the shuffle of packing /unpacking. It was near Christmas time though.. Mmm maybe a XMAS story???

Sasha 3 years ago

Say you are a beautiful lady and you chance to see your favorite celebrity sitting in a bar, what do you say in one phrase to imply that you want a date? Does "Hi, can I buy you a drink" still work? Or do they usually run away scared to death? ... I met several celebrities, always introduced by a friend. That makes things easier. No one ever ran away, some kissed my hand, some wrote their phone number on it... Unfortunately none of them was in my "guys-to-date-once-in-a-life" list. And I won't be so lucky to meet those I "want" through a friend, so, an airport or a bar it will be. What do I say then? Any useful ideas? Thank you :)

Good luck. Elena

Hello James

That's interesting to know. When you look at it, celebs are just people like us (with more money lol and of course fame). I do find Sheikhs fascinating when I see them on tv or in papers, but I don't remember their names. They wear something on their head. It's like a white cloth and then a black thing on top. Which Sheikh would you like to meet in person?

There are so many celebrities I hope I would meet but never really had the chance. I would like to believe that I would not do the things you listed not to do especially 1 & 2....I would be prim and proper but then again just imagining meeting my favorite football player Raul makes me go gaga. how much more would it be if I do meet him.? Definitely I would want a pic or two, an autograph but not on my body coz I wouldn't be able to keep it, call my friends? - I doubt I will remember. Interesting hub, voted up and across, shared, tweeted and pinned.

I met a celebrity. Kevin Kline. He was soooo handsome and sincere. So nice to me. I never asked him to sign my body parts. The whole thing was signed on the picture frame. I can still: Feel his huge hand, See his eyes looking at mine, hear his voice calling my name after I told him what it was again. I could picture the whole thing in my head and it always felt like it was yesterday. I told Kevin that I loved him but it wasn't for a relationship. In the movies and TV, the celebrity says to the fan 'I love you." But in reality, he was saying something much better than that and he said to me: "You're very sweet." Mummy did most of the talking to be safe with me. Meeting Kevin was all I ever wanted since September 2010.

The only 'celebrity' I've ever met was Archibald Cox in the Harvard Law School Library where he had a corner office for many years before he died in 2004. I can't imagine doing any of the things mentioned here with any stranger/celebrity much less with Mr. Cox.

For those who don't remember, Archibald Cox was a Special Prosecutor during Nixon Administration's Watergate scandal. He just happened to be in his office the afternoon I toured the library.

Love your photo of Enrique Iglesias and fan.
