This Ole River

by Chuck RitenouR 5-20-2K3

Chorus:

This ole river sure is deep Lord this ole river sure is wide.

This ole river gonna carry my soul to the other side.

I can hear them hounds howlin' and I know it won't be long

I'm gonna jump in this ole river, jump and be gone.

verse 1:

I caught my woman running, caught her with another man.

I sent their souls to Jesus, sent them both with these two hands

Then I commenced to runnin' just tryin' to stay free.

Til I got to this ole river, there just ain't no where else to be.

verse 2:

I walked in like ghost while they were still in bed.

I put a Louisville Slugger up against that man's head.

She never made a sound as my hands went round her throat.

I can still hear the sound it made when her neck broke.

verse 3:

Now there's a whole lota men out there chasin' me

I bet they're thinkin' that them hounds have me up a tree.

When they get to these banks there'll be no sign to be found

them dogs will just be sniffin' sniffin' sniffin' all around.

Chorus:

This ole river sure is deep, Lord this ole river sure is wide

and I ain't got the strength, Lord to swim to the other side.

and when it grabs hold of me, I know it won't be long

this ole river gonna pull me down, pull me down and I'll be gone.

the end.
