An Overview of the Pearl Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum
Drumming for the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, Tico Torres needed a snare drum with a crack and an echo which could be felt throughout an entire concert hall.
And even without amplification the Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum can be felt and heard all the way to the rafters of any major concert arena. But loud as it is, this snare drum offers quite a bit of warmth and subtlety in its tone as well.
The Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum features a suspension system that is quite similar to the Free-Floating line of Pearl Snare Drums. This "Free-Floating Suspension System" ensures that the internal air column vibrates naturally when the drum head is struck.
To put it another way, the Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum comes equipped with the theoretically most pure snare drum tone possible.

Tico Torres Snare Specs
The Tico Torres Signature is a snare drum designed to resonate through a great hall. Therefore, aluminum was chosen for the shell, a metal which offers a bright, yet sensitive tone. The 3mm shell is a huge thickness for a metal drum, which offers increased power.
Another interesting feature is the depth of the drum, which is increased to 6.5” from the traditional 5.5”. This increase adds further depth to the tone and helps to round out the sound with some low-end body.
The Value of a Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum
Because of its depth, warmth, and sheer resonance, the Pearl Tico Torres Signature can be an appropriate snare drum choice for a variety of styles. Jazz drummers should find the dynamic range to sufficient, rockers will appreciate its crisp attack, and metal drummers will find that the clarity of this instrument sings above even the grungiest and most harrowing of guitar riffs.
And of course, the Tico Torres Signature Snare comes with the best in professional-grade drum hardware, for which Pearl is famous. It also features Pearl's patented "Superior Shell Technology". So although it carries a hefty price tag (listed at $959), it is well-constructed and will last for many years.
If you need a snare drum for live playing with a lush tone and sharp, driving power, then the Pearl Tico Torres Signature Snare Drum is one of my best recommendations.
