Lil' Kim is an American, female rapper from Brooklyn, New York. Lil Kim emerged in the mid-90's rapping with The Notorious B.I.G's hip hop group, Junior M.A.F.I.A. When Biggie learned that Lil Kim could rap, he made her freestyle on the spot. Impressed with her talent, he added her to the team.

Lil Kim released her debut album in 1996 titled, Hard Core which went double platinum. In 2000, she released her second album, "The Notorious K.I.M" and her third, "La Belle Mafia" in 2003. both albums were certified platinum. She is the only female rapper to have 3 platinum albums besides Missy Elliot. Lil Kim released her fourth album, "The Naked Truth" while serving a year sentence in prison.
