Top 8 results... the fall of Paul
Top the Top 8 elimination comes and goes and we are left with 7 Idols standing. Paul McDonald had the fewest votes and was America's newest victim.
The top 8 results show was not as good as I thought it would be. I was exited to see Kelly Clackson's performance, which for me, fell short of high expectations. Not so enthusiastic to see Rihanna, however was pleasantly surprised. But the real and only highlight of the night was the duet of Haley Reinhart and Casey Abrams. Very classy, soulful and steamy; their set melted the stage.
The other Idols performances were just okay for me. I would have liked "the sound of silence/ Mrs Robinson" a lot better if it would have been a duet of Jacob and James. I think Stefano and Paul maid it fall a little short. Once they all gained momentum it was pretty good. The end was a lot better then the beginning. Scotty and Laurens performance was kind of snoozey. Lauren was as fantastic and beautiful as always. But it seems as though there is not much energy coming from Mr. McCreery. He has gotten way to comfortable up on stage. Frankly, I am getting sick of Scotty. If he doesn't pull some tricks out of his bag I will be pulling my hair out through every performance.
By the end the wonderful Haley, Paul and Stefano were in the bottom 3 hot seats. I predicted Paul and Stefano, however Haley was not to much of a surprise. The judges were pretty harsh with her on competition night. It was apparent that she was not surprised to be in the bottom three. As it should be, she was sent back to the couches first.
Left on stage Paul and Stefano sweated it out, until Ryan announced McDonald going home. I was only sightly surprised again. And again, the judges were totally shocked! They did not make it as vocal as last week when Pia got the axe. But it was there. It makes me wonder if they think anyone should go home?
With only seven left I eagerly await next weeks show themed "songs from the 21st century". I can't wait what the Idols have in store for us next.
