Top Leonard Cohen Songs

The best songs of Leonard Cohen

Leonard Cohen is a Canadian poet, songwriter and singer. Cohen, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, is legendary throughout the world for writing and performing such classics and “Suzanne” and “Bird on a Wire”. Cohen’s songs have also been recorded by the likes of such diverse performers as Joe Cocker, REM, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Judy Collins, Bono, Bob Dylan, Elton John and Justin Timberlake.

Selecting a ‘best of list’ or the ‘top’ songs of an artist, especially if the artist has been honing his craft for half a century, is of course a very subjective assignment. Nonetheless, below is a summary of what I believe are the most powerful and beautiful examples of Cohen’s work. All of the videos have been linked from Youtube.

I love hallelujah but interestingly enough I think others have covered it better. The emotion he conveys in the lyrics is amazing.

Maybe, my fellow Canadian, they should take the title, The Great One, lol, away from Wayne Gretzky, and lay it on your honorable shoulders.

Well Amy Becherer, one of the Hub's greatest writers/poets has sent me your way with much acclaim, and as soon as I saw Tim Hortons' Donuts then I knew you must be the Great One and a Canadian at that -no doubt this Leonard Cohen hub tribute would be considered essential in my book - thank you for taking the time to put this one together and indulging us with some great music and lyrics (and videos too) hubbravo to my friend - and you have so many great looking Hubs here that it looks like a never ending buffet - suffice to say - I will return.

sending you warm wishes and good energy from lake erie time ontario canada 10:37am and drinking my first coffee this morning but it's not Tim Hortons -lol - I save that for night shift at work
