Nobody Likes To Admit It, But Weird Al Is Funny

The First Step Is Admitting You Have A Problem

Nobody likes to admit it. It is a secret that for some can be embarrassing. It is something you only tell your closest friends. You think Weird Al Yankovic is funny.

For those who don't know, Weird Al Yankovic is a well known musical artist known for his parodies of popular songs, movies and the famous. His first parody aired in 1979 and since then he has sold over 12 million albums. He has also starred in his own movie, UHF, and had a television show. Weird Al has also been awarded three Grammy Awards and has four gold records.

Since Weird Al has been recognized by the Grammys you can embrace your love for Weird Al and enjoy a few of his best parodies.

Smells Like Nirvana

The Actual Nirvana Video

Smells Like Nirvana

Smells Like Nirvana is a spoof of both the song and video of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit. Nirvana was voted the best band of the 1990s and Smells Like Teen Spirit was voted the best song of the 1990s by VH1.

Weird Al's spoof of the song points out that Kurt Cobain is unintelligible in Smells Like Teen Spirit. However, where Weird Al really shows his talent is in the video. The Video is a dead on spoof of Nirvana's video. From the janitor to the cheerleaders, Weird Al successfully and eerily spoofs Nirvana while throwing some jokes in there as well. More importantly, Weird Al points out many of thoughts about the video that Nirvana fans had thought themselves. Enjoy.

EBAY

Ebay

Ebay is a spoof of the Backstreet Boys' I want it that way. Instead of the original chorus of "I want it that way," Weird Al's version states: "I bought it on Ebay." The song describes all of the junk that Weird Al has purchased on Ebay and wondered why. The video attached is not a Weird Al video but still pretty well put together.

Star Wars

Star Wars

The Saga Begins is the name of one of Weird Al's parodies of Star Wars. The Saga Begins is a parody of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace. The song is really a summary of the movie according to Weird Al. The song is set to "America Pie" but intead the chorus rejoices about "this here Anikan guy."

The video portrays Weird Al as Obi Wan Kenobi and shows short clips of Weird Al's version of the movie. Enjoy.

Fat

Fat

Fat is one of Weird Al's best known parodies. Fat is a parody of Michael Jackson's Bad, both the song and video. The song details all the food Weird Al eats. The video, however, is what is memorable.

The video tracks Michael Jackson's "Bad" video. But instead of Jackson, is a very obese Weird Al mimicking Michael Jackson. It is very well done and very funny. Enjoy.

Eat It

Eat It

Eat is another one of Weird Al's 1980s parodies of Michael Jackson. In Eat It, Weird Al is spoofing Michael Jackson's hit single, "Beat It." Weird Al in this spoof is wearing Jackson's signature red jacket and glove while emploring children to eat the food in front of them. Very funny and a great spoof. Enjoy.

Like A Surgeon

Weird Al's Like A Surgeon is a parody of Madonna's hit single, Like A Virgin. It is a syllable by syllable parody of Madonna's 1980s breakthrough single. The video, luckily, does not have Weird Al in a wedding dress crawling across the floor. Instead, Weird Al is wearing a doctor's outfit performing surgery. However, he does crawl across the floor at some point. Very funny.

Gump

Gump

Weird Al's Gump is both a parody of the Presidents Of The United States' Lump, and a parody of the movie Forrest Gump.  The lyrics are changed to tell the Forrest Gump story and a Forrest Look A Like appears in the video acting out the lyrics.  But the video also spoofs the Lump video as well, and does it very well.  Enjoy.

The Beverly Hillbillies

The Beverly Hillbillies

Weird Al's Beverly Hillbillies is a parody of the old sitcom of the same name and of Dire Straits' I Want My MTV. The song is the old Beverly Hillbillies Theme Song and shows clips from the show and some animation. The video spoofs Dire Straits' I Want My MTV video with the glow headbands and everything. Enjoy.
