Twelve Angry Men

Can twelve men keep your attention?

Can twelve men keep your attention? Their personalities and backgrounds are different. They are from all walks of life and thrown into a room where they can't leave. You can watch them but not interfere, they talk , discuss and deliberate. Can they hold your attention?

Are they handsome? Not particularly

How long are they in the room? until their job is done

What do they do? Who are they? Why are they there?

What do they do?

Their proffessions as far as I could tell were varied, among them is an architect, a watchmaker, banker, there is a broker, salesmen and even a graphic designer. You might be thinking, 'What on earth do these people have in common?'

Do they know each other? No, [and for the purpose of this] they have never met before, and will probably never meet again. Speaking to each other, for the first time, took place once locked inside that room.

Who are they? Henry Fonda - Lee J.Cobb - Ed Begley - E.G. Marshall - Jack Warden - Martin Balsam - John Fielder - Jack Klugman - Edward Binns - Joseph Sweeney - George Voskovec - Robert Webber.

They are all actors portraying the parts of twelve jury men in the film '12 Angry Men' a story and screenplay written by Reginald Rose.

Henry Fonda,Lee J Cobb,Ed Bigley and Jack Klugman lead the distinctive cast of jurors whose character portrayals are perfect in every detail. With it's star-powered cast and four Oscar* nominations including Best Picture.* 12 Angry Men is a powerful, suspenseful and fascinatingly entertaining film.

The film was set on a day ,proclaimed to be the hottest day of the year...and the fan in the room did not work. As the room gets hotter, the more irritable the men get, save one, he remained cool calm and collected throughout. As the film progresses you see the personalities of each man ,come to the fore. Their work, their lives and their prejudices are all brought to light.

Watching this film again today, had me riveted, I know the story, Each time I watch it, I am older and just a little wiser, I see more things within the film, the looks , the realizations and the dawning on some, as to the extent of their prejudice.

Why are they there?

Without giving away too much, 'caus I am sure you will want to see this film, these twelve men are deliberating over the fate of one eighteen year old boy accused of murdering his father. His arrest came to be upon the testimony of one female and one male, both of which , alleged to have witnessed the deed.

The boy was raised in a slum, his mother died when he was nine, he was constantly beaten and at one stage put into care whilst his father served a term of inprisonment.

Was he guilty or not guilty?  Watch the film to find out.

Great set-up for a hub -- completely hooked me in. (I also liked the movie, but even if I'd never heard of it I would have been intrigued by your review.) More!

Have not seen the movie, but your hub draws me to it. The video has to be a bare token of the tension that must have been present. Thanks for sharing, tempting us all. And I have always been thrilled at 'Moonlight Sonata'!

They made great movies in those days, Hawkesdream, and "12 Angry Men" is one of the greatest! Just look at that cast -- and you could never match it with today's actors. And there's no car chases, huge explosions or scene changes every two or three seconds. You took an original approach to the revue and revealed just enough to keep the suspense for those who haven't seen the movie.Thumbs up!

That movie is so intense, such an emotional journey. Think of it, a feature length film that occurs entirely in one room. There's writing!

What a wonderful movie, a homage to strength of character and how a person's fate can so depend on circumstance and the vagaries of other people's emotions.
