Ultra Super Saiyan(Dragon Ball Z Profile)

Ultra Super Saiyan

This is the transformation after the Super Saiyan 2nd Stage. Future Trunks first demonstrated the ability to assume this extremely powerful transformation before battling Perfect Cell. Afterwards, Goku demonstrated this form to his son Gohan during their training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, and this form was never seen again after the Cell Saga.

This transformation is officially dubbed the Super Saiyan 3rd Stage, or Super Saiyan 3rd Grade. It was achieved by Goku, Vegeta, and Trunks through intense training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, though Vegeta never really transformed into this form as he knew its disadvantages. The Ultra Super Saiyan state features a really wild and intense-looking aura surrounding the user, as well as an unimaginably bulky body that gives the user phenomenal strength and power.

While not suitable for fighting swift foes such as Cell and Kid Buu, the Ultra Super Saiyan becomes a formidable transformation when used in a fight where brute strength is all that matters. Upon accessing this form, the user becomes 5 times stronger than a regular Super Saiyan, and his durability is greatly augmented. However, the user's speed becomes so poor that he can barely teleport. This form was completely useless during the Majin Buu Saga as most villains in there could outrun even a Super Saiyan 2.

Powers and Abilities

Before the introduction of Super Saiyan 2, the Ultra Super Saiyan transformation was the most powerful Super Saiyan form in the series as it dwarfed even Perfect Cell in brute strength and power. The Ultra Super Saiyan is even stronger than its Full Power version. The massive amount of strength and power it gives its user make it nearly as strong as the Super Saiyan 2. The Ultra Super Saiyan is a competitor to Broly's Legendary Super Saiyan transformation and has about the same power. However, there are two major differences. In contrast to the Legendary Super Saiyan form, the Ultra Super Saiyan form drains a massive amount of energy from its user, similar to the Super Saiyan 3, whereas the Legendary Super Saiyan form does the opposite by constantly replenishing the energy its user has used. Also, while the Ultra Super Saiyan's user has the ability to pound his opponent into oblivion, the user's speed is severely reduced to the point he won't be able to even touch his enemy to deliver the merciless beating. Broly in his Legendary Super Saiyan state does not move that much faster than an Ultra Super Saiyan as everyone he fought were able to outrun him, but his unlimited supply of energy allows him to overcome exhaustion, as opposed to an Ultra Super Saiyan who loses even more energy and gets tired even faster by putting in more effort to move faster. In these cases, this form is impractical to use against the likes of Perfect Cell who can move as fast as a Full Power Super Saiyan but is best to utilize against foes that are much slower than Perfect Cell such as Broly or Bojack.

In the movie Broly: The Legendary Super Saiyan, Goku and Gohan fought Broly in their Full Power Super Saiyan forms, while Trunks and Vegeta were in their Ascended forms. If Goku used his Ultra Super Saiyan form, he'd actually be able to fight an even match with Broly or even gain the upper hand since Goku's experience as a fighter is vastly superior to Broly's, but maybe only for a short amount of time. However, since there were three of them who could go Ultra Super Saiyan, Broly would've easily been defeated.
