Sing along with Mitch (again?)

Who was Mitch Miller?

Way back when, when television was in black and white, a guy with a gang would start singing songs with lyrics on the screen and America, or whoever was watching could join in. I assume there were whole families that gathered to join in the chorus. Others were more passive, but it was still decent music, and all the guys on tv didn't appear to be timid about belting it out.

So there you have it. And here is a sample of what it was all about for you who are not boomers or older.

The Time Frame?

Some other television shows on at this time were "I Dream of Jeanie", "Flipper", "Saturday Night at the Movies", so I am guessing mid sixties.

It kind of feels like a huge gathering of a barbershop quartet... Feels a little like an alternative to Lawrence Welk. It is fun watching people sing who love to sing.

The other thing advertised on the commercial was the movie "Mary Poppins."  The car being advertised was the Opal Kadett.
