What would you do IF given a second chance?

Phew, LIFE !

Life is such a roller coaster ride that once the ride is over; we tend to analyze what went wrong or what could we have done in that situation so, that the result would be different.

Ponder upon...

This is an exciting phase of life that we ALL are living where opportunities seldom knock on our door TWICE. But, what IF we would get to live that situation again in this lifetime? What IF we get a second chance to do something different than what we did last time? Would we grasp it?

Sure, we all would love to grasp it and ride it once more with a different perception so that the output would be so much as to; what WE want or what we DESIRE.

But, the BIGGEST problem in our lives is the AWARENESS.

We are so busy in our routine and so engulfed in our past and our future that we do not realize when the opportunity knocks on our door. We have to be aware and conscious and be in the present moment when the opportunity comes so that we grab it and can make a difference in our lives.

An Example

A classic example that I have been experiencing in my daily life is the words I speak to the people around me. The style of my speech can sometimes hurt people. I am aware of its consequences and many a times I have assessed myself after seeing the reaction on my friend's faces. Then I realize the impact of my words spoken and feel bad.

Just as spilled milk can only be wiped but not collected back into the glass the same way, words spoken cannot be put back in one's mouth.

What has been uttered...is uttered and there is no going back. Alas!

So, when given a second chance to interact with that person...should I be aware of what I did earlier or should I react immediately? Should I act with my Gut Feeling or should I think twice of the consequences I had faced earlier which made me think twice of my actions and made me feel that what IF I had acted in a different situation.

Attached below is my hub on Gut Feeling...what is Gut feeling and why does man tend to react more with their Guts rather than their brains.

Conclusion & Ponder upon...

Ideally, Life would not be FUN if, we keep getting second chances in life.

But, there are some moments in life, which I feel come not only twice but thrice.

However, the key words to making them last longer and with sweet memories is to be in the moment and react from the mind rather than react suddenly and then thinking of it's consequences.

There are way too many moments that I wish I could have a do over for. Words that left my mouth without thinking, actions that escaped without realizing the consequences. Yet, while I would love to have a do over... I am glad because they have all been learning experiences for me.

Great hub! Made me think!

So True HPRoyChoudhary. Experiences make us an Adult as long as we learn from it and do not commit it again :)

Thank you for stopping by...appreciate it!

I believe we get second chances in our lives, constantly. Only problem is, we're not always 'aware' of it....

up.

@barbergirl28--I believe every moment is a learning experience for all of us. When we do get a second chance at things--we are either living in the past or the future thus, fail to use it correctly.

Thanks for your precious comment...always appreciate your input :)

@AlwaysExploring---So true. Our Destiny is in our Karma's and we have to always be in the present to make our future bright :)

@Fay--As usual, your comments always enlighten my hub and give me the reward of it's hard work.

Yes, I wish we had the button to delete out our mistakes but, then we would not be able to write our destiny. Our karma's; our deeds make us lead to a future which could be bright or dim.

I too believe that Awareness is something that we could use more of in the world. People just aren't aware of things like how bad they drive when talking on a cell phone, how they are actually attractive to others, how others actually notice when they slack off at work, and that in fact they are thirsty, not hungry, so eating that snack isn't going to be good for them.

I don't think I made that much sense there, but I'm trying to say: I agree.

Awareness is key, and something that all of could use a little work on. With being aware come living in the moment, and to live in the moment, we all could use with a little technological disconnect. Awareness, living in the moment, both of these would go a long way in making the world a better place. Great inspirational hub! I look forward to reading more by you!

@Ashantina...yes, agreed. We are so mixed up with our past or future that we hardly live IN the moment, thus, are not aware when the moment comes and goes by. Thankyou so much for your precious comment :) always a pleasure to hear from you.

@mohammad qtatsheh...am glad to know that you get to do everything that you desire. All the best!

@Thelma..yes, agreed. IF given a chance in life I would try to change a few things myself and would ponder over what my life would be then :) I guess, that's what makes this life so precious since we know that we cannot press the REDO button...LOL. Thank you for stopping by :)

@NORTHENwriter...I understood what you were trying to say :) Thank you for your comment!

@K.BurnsDarling---Yes, Awareness is the key to all our problems and is the solution. But, unfortunately being aware of it; still does not make us be in that moment ;) Thank you so much for your precious comment and stopping by...would love to read your hubs and will stop by..

Dear Ruchira,

I have gone through your very imaginative hub and found myself being analyzed in such a way that I compared the life with the game of cricket. I found myself batting and if a catch is dropped, it is not necessary that the another will be dropped. Whenever it is taken my game is finished. Doing wrong is not wise. Every opportunity of the life must be availed with the aim to get maximum favorable result as much as we can. Overall, a thoughtful and an awesome hub you have written.

Namaste Makusr,

Life has very simple rules but unfortunately we have made it complex. I try to remind myself of those rules via my hubs. Am glad you liked them.

Happy Diwali to you too and wishing you joy and happiness this coming year :)

Hello Aupadhyay,

A Very good message indeed.

As long as we are in the moment and aware of our situation we can take advantage of what life has to offer.

Thank you for your precious comment...appreciated it.

we are all a function of or total experiences ruchira and so at all moments everything is new and yet every moment is a second chance.

if given a second chance one does not how one would behave because that would be a function of the experience input at that moment of time. but yet yes awareness helps to make us all better over time.

Ruchira profile image

Ruchira 4 years ago from United States Author

Well said Neeleshkulkarni.

We learn through experiences in life so, can't be sure what decision we make will be good or bad for us. However, if we are aware of the situation then, chances are that we could jump on it at the right time.

Thank you for the read and your precious feedback.

Before an act, if we ponder for a moment, on the consequence of the act, things come out quite different, and often at optimum level.

Ruchira profile image

Well said indeed, Rambansal.

If we ponder over our deeds before we indugle...would be much better and not make us regret later on...

thanks for your valuable feedback!
