Have we had enough of Real Housewives, yet??

Will the REAL Housewives of America please stand?

Enough of this insanity! No longer can we sit idly by as BRAVO reality T.V. airs programs of utter nonsense, attempting to pass them off to viewers as Main Street, America. It's high time someone speak out. I volunteer.

Just the other day as I spoke to our Nanny about the issues I'm having with the maid, I noticed that our limo driver had not taken our Porche to be detailed. I would have spoken to him immediately, had our gardener not been causing a ruckus arguing with the pool boy. I hate all the fuss but as the housewife here, I must handle things.

This day I even had to see to it that my personal assistant knew exactly what to pack for our two weeks in Paris. I deplore standing over her, wearing myself to a frazzle, directing her to do what she is paid to do. My day can be exhausting.

George will drive me to the Spa for my 1:00 appointment. Sauna, massage, facial, manicure and hair styling. This can consume hours of my precious time. I must get back home in time to see to it that Rosa set the dinner table for eight guests rather than ten. The Governor and his wife sent regrets due to scheduling conflicts. Problems, problems.

Call me Forgetful....but....

I'm having a hard time recalling who it was at our recent Cocktail Party who commenced a lawsuit against me. I'm being accused of having thrown my Tanqueri Martini in her face, complete with imported olive and yanking out her hair extensions. Actually, the more I think about it, I do remember becoming enraged when someone commented that my plastic surgeon is not Board Certified. I'm not at all concerned. Considering the untrue verbal assault thrown at me in my own mansion, any Judge will determine I was totally justified. Heaven knows this world is full of crazies. It depresses me. ....which reminds me to make my therapy appointment for this week.

Real Housewives of America, I ask you....

Are we expected to believe, sympathize or worse, be entertained by this crap? How long must the insults and demeaning of authentic American housewives go on before we fight back?

How dare the media executives suggest these mindless, shallow, phony and somewhat looney broads are representative of real women? Having been born with a brain, we scoff at this of course What's really going on here? Don't ask me why I allow this kind of insanity to get to me please. It just does.

Real life, being a wife and mother, working woman and sometime-volunteer is what we chose. Difficult struggle though this may be at times, it's our life and we love it. Sure, the daydreams of a fantasy life come and go but reality prevails and we trudge on.

When the Entertainment Industry smartens up......

Some extremely intelligent woman will write, produce and direct a program about real housewives that will reap the benefits and attention, respect and enjoyment, we rightfully deserve. Think of the boost it will provide the viewers, men and women alike. It would be certain to be a smash hit.

The problem is, genuinely real life isn't exciting enough. There's not enough fantasy or luxury, not enough of the bullshit we see on these unreal programs. Technically, these shows are supposed to be an escape from our daily lives? I disagree with this concept. I hear otherwise from the women I talk to all the time. There needs to be a Real House wife's show to which we can actually relate. Why is this such a difficult thing to understand?

My best guess is that like so much of the fake that literally surrounds us from every angle continually, reality, honesty and facts have such little value. These positives are lost somewhere so that we must always pull them to the surface. We need to shake ourselves awake to comfortably accept the way things actually are. Are we not trusted with the truth? Instead, we are inundated and insulted with the phony, the scripted and contrived. The constant efforts to force-feed us so much garbage are astronomical. We can and should refuse to accept it. Hey, House Wives of New York City.....Get a life!

Stand tall and proud ladies. The Real American housewife and mother has been the backbone that has made this country's families and households the best, strongest and most productive in the world. We are examples of women of substance and integrity.

We need to demand a better plan for a TV show that will represent us as who and what we truly are. Let all housewives everywhere feel proud. Give the viewing public some truth and down-to-earth individuals struggling with their daily lives and succeeding against the obstacles.

Cast everyday women from the streets of Average Town, USA. We're not married to millionaires. We're not spoiled brats, raising another generation of even more spoiled little demons. We are a wonderful kind of normal with a multitude of talents and personalities of every type imaginable. We do not have weekly cat fights, throwing insults at each other and attacking our friends!

We are the jugglers, volunteers and problem-solvers, not to mention the fact that we do it all unselfishly with pure love.

Working Moms, wives and women from every corner, I say we need to start a movement. Let us stand tall and capable to represent the Real Housewives of America. Prepare to create a resume that will astound!

Seriously people, we may be sitting in front of the T.V. a bit too often and for too long, being dumbed-down by garbage. What we have to our avail is Sci-Fi, Reality T.V. (that is anything but real) sitcoms that over dramatize the highs and lows of daily life or talk shows where people expose and air their dirtiest of laundry. "Honey Boo Boo?" and a whole lot of ignorance.

We are better than this, don't you think? Yes, we are, so let's go for it!

See you at the auditions!!

Get a load of this Insanity! Girls, girls, let's get along!

I'm not surprised that lottery winners will quickly squander their winnings., but what a damned shame.

As for the likes of Paris and the Kardashians.......over-rated, over-exposed, beyond wealthy......popular for no reason whatsoever and BTW......never will you hear or read of their names related to a single charity nor connected to philanthropy.

I see them as useless, plastic, spoiled and they bore me to hell.

Thanks for stopping by. I'm impressed by "real" intelligent people like you!

Yes, everyone should participate in making a house a home except maybe the babies and toddlers.

I do give people like Paris Hilton and Kim K. credit for figuring out how to make bundles of money by doing essentially nothing. They aren't stupid if they can hornswoggle people into helping them make a living by simply being, and I'm betting they don't squander their proceeds either, like lottery winners usually do. Did you know most lottery winners are broke within a year?

Like I said, I'm so glad I don't have a TV. Unfortunately most of the people I know are into this stuff or something equally mindless, so it can be challenging to have a conversation. :)

Jaye.....first let me say that the "Kardashians" are a very sensitive subject for me. I have no idea WHO these people "think" they are.....but it's obvious they're as misguided as humanly possible. I could scream each and every time I see any of the thousands of pictures, stories and/or announcements about any one of that pathetic lot of phony, unintelligent and totally without talent family. Enough said about those plastic, hollow people.

The "Housewife" series are a complete insult to not only the authentic American housewife, but an embarrassment to our entire Country.

Being a strong opinionated woman is what I love about you and women like you! If not for us, the general public would be utterly LOST in a jumbled mess of the phony, shallow, and ego-centric greed-mongers who seem to be growing in numbers....as well as nausea.

Thanks for your interesting comment Jaye. Peace, Paula

Paula - I'm not sure how important my opinion is since I've never watched that show (or any 'reality' show, for that matter, which--in my non-humble opinion, can't be realistic if it's scripted and on camera).

It's also my opinion (Have I warned you I'm extremely opinionated? No? Well, you probably guessed it!) that so-called reality shows are targeted to the lowest common denominator among TV viewers. Think 'the Kardashian family 'chronicles.' Ugh! It's frightening to realize how many people sit glued to the boob tube watching this crap and actually believing it! That fact alone says something really bizarre about our society.

As for the term 'housewife', I haven't been one of those in decades because I was no longer a wife. Although I'm the only person in my household to perform household chores (couldn't talk the dog into helping even before she went blind), I don't hold myself to the high standards I had when younger, in better physical condition and brainwashed into believing that a spotless house really mattered in the overall scheme of things.

In fact, some days I get busy right after morning coffee and never make the bed at all, though I manage it most of the time. (Seeing the bed made makes me feel--irrational as it may be--as though I've done something positive for my environment even if there are dust bunnies beneath the dust ruffle.)

All sarcasm aside, I feel nothing but respect for those women who elect to stay home with their children (if they can afford it, a state of affairs that is becoming increasingly difficult for most families) and do all the 'housewifely/mother' things that the real June Cleevers did daily back in the fifties. Being a housewife or a housewife and mother requires intelligence, fortitude, a plethora of skills and (often) a strong stomach. When you consider how many women (even 'way back' in the fifties) did all these things while also working full-time jobs to supplement the family income...and those who attempt to do it now...it makes you proud to be a woman, doesn't it?

Voted Up+++ and shared for those who missed it earlier

LOL...Tillie....This hub is 2 years old. I'm glad you caught it though because it's one of the ones I have been considering deleting. All this talk of hubbers cleaning house has gotten to me.

You're referring to Theresa and Joe Guidice.....from Housewives of New Jersey. They were tried and sentenced for "bankruptcy fraud." I don't wish anyone suffering, but these 2 individuals are .....(can't say in the comment section) They deserve to do their time!

Thanks for stopping by. You can go back to your housework now....Did you give your maid the day off??? LOL

Okay, I'm late to the party but I was busy doing housework ;)

I've never watched one of these shows and its probably because this is one fantasy I'll never see as real. I can't even imagine a life so out of tune with life.

Great job as always GF, you know how to hit 'em where it hurts! Oh wait, so did the government...seriously, not paying their taxes, why I never.

Very appropriate comment....."I've never been married to a house!" I'm not even sure I like "homemaker, "Au fait.....when the inhabitants are usually made up of a few people.....aren't we all equally responsible to make it a home?

What I do know is that these women on the reality shows...live anything but REAL lives. They are anything but real women. Yet they have their devoted followers, which causes me to wonder just how desperate the viewing public is to totally escape reality!!

While I'm at it, I may as well admit my desire to ask the Kardashian Klan to just go away......far far away.

Sadly, this is the sort of thing people want for entertainment. Very difficult these days to get people to consider anything substantive that really matters. I've never seen one of these programs, but everything I've heard about them suggests they are very bad soap operas, unlike the usual ones that are simply bad.

I never liked any of the reality shows I checked out and 'Housewives' is just another version, is it not? Thankfully, I don't have a television. I could probably get these programs online if I wanted to . . .

Personally, I've never considered myself a housewife. Homemaker is more to my liking for the fact that I've never been married to a house, and creating a pleasant home environment was more like what I felt my responsibilities should be. Not catering to a house.

Excellent hub, Paula! Voted up and more! Posted on FB, and sharing with HP followers.

If it were not for the gym where I work out, I would not even be aware of this series. As it is, though, one of the TV screens in the cardio area is always tuned to Bravo. Close captioning is enough for me... I never would want to hear the audio. The title should be renamed to "The Unhappy Bimbos of (whatever city)." The future of soap operas can be found in Reality TV. The supposedly "real thing" appears just as shallow and empty as the soaps of old. You see one episode, you saw them all. I really got a kick out of what one of these women said: "I can deal with a lot, but not stupidity." Yep, that's why you're on this show.

Awesome! I enjoyed reading your hub. Hilarious! At first, I thought that´s your real life. Having stress with maids and other helpers. It´s not about real housewives. It´s about materialistic spoiled women with nothing serious to do in their lives. But I have to confess, I looked at this "real" crazy housewives tv series and made me laugh til my belly aches because I know that the women in this series were talking full of nonsense. Thanks for sharing fpherj48.

smithed.....I do agree with your opinion on these shows....(I have never watched Jersey Shore and refuse to......those young people all need a good swift kick in the A**!!)

Somehow I got sucked in to the HW of New Jersey and to be honest with you.....I watch out of sheer selfish motives. These over-priviledged, UNDESERVING "broads" with little intelligence and lack of class.....reconfirm to me over and over again, how blessed I am to be both intelligent and socially graceful.....even though I have had to struggle (work...as in JOB) to have a good life and take care of my children as well.

Shows like "Real Housewives" and "Jersey Shore" are the bottom of the barrel in TV programming. It's sad that programming like this trash stays on the air while a lot of quality shows get axed because the first several episodes don't get high enough ratings.

I am 50% Italian....and quite proud of my ethnicity....but these Italian women from N.J. AND THEIR ROUGH TOUGH HUSBANDS give Italian-Americans a very bad rep...

I do agree with you Carolyn....but would like to add that I am offended by what the general public seems to accept as "entertainment." The best I can determine with shows like the HOUSEWIVES is that REAL people are able to see proof-positive that MONEY does not equal class, intelligence or true happiness. In other words, these shows bring new meaning to the nasty term, "Trailer Trash," by being "Mansion Trash." Know what I mean? lol

Great hub, again! We don't really have too many "quality TV shows", so we will watch whatever is put in front of us. And, of course, the more we watch, the more HOLLYWOOD creates.
