Who Are the World's Fattest People?

These record-breaking fatties will make you feel better about your body's flaws.

People over a certain age, especially women, are prone to be self-critical when it comes to their weight, fat, and flab. But no matter how chubby, pudgy, or out of shape you think you are, these people are in much worse condition. You might chastise yourself for having an extra slice of cake at the office party, but the heaviest people in the world attained their massive weight not by eating an extra slice now and then, but by eating entire cakes! If you need motivation to stick to your diet and resist the urge to pig out, just tape photos of these guys to your refrigerator.

Carol Ann Yager holds the record as the world's heaviest woman ever; at her peak she may have weighed about 1,600 pounds (726 kg or 114 stone) according to her then-boyfriend, though this estimate was never officially confirmed by her doctors.

When she died at the age of 34 weighing 1,200 lbs, she was so massive that firefighters had to remove a large picture window to get her body out of the house. Though her official cause of death was kidney failure, yager suffered from many other co-morbid conditions related to her obesity. For instance, her skin was deteriorating due to widespread bacterial infections and her immune system was greatly weakened.

Like other morbidly obese record holders, Yager was confined to her home toward the end of her life because she could no longer walk.

Mexican former taco truck worker Manuel Uribe, who weighed 1,320 at his heaviest, is luckily still alive and continuing to lose weight at a steady pace. Since 2008 he has lost around 700 lbs and now weighs around 450lbs.

Uribe's is a familiar story among the morbidly obese. While he was always a bit heavy as a child, adult dissatisfaction combined with a sedentary lifestyle caused his weight to balloon in the span of several years. When Uribe first moved to the US in 1987, he worked as a food vendor on the streets. But instead of selling tacos to passersby, Uribe succumbed to boredom and hunger and ate most of the tacos himself.

Switching to a sedentary job only exacerbated his obesity, and by 2001 he was back in Mexico and unable to move from his bed.

Thanks to his positive attitude and zest for life, Uribe has been able to turn his life around and continues to make progress through diet and exercise alone. He has been an inspiration to other morbidly obese patients who see their situation bleakly.

Mayra Rosales, born 1980, confessed to a murder she didn't commit in order to protect her sister.

Mayra Rosales is not only renowned for her near record-breaking weight, but also for her role in the cover-up of her nephew's murder. Rosales lived with her sister and nephew because she was no longer able to care for herself or move out of her bed. Unfortunately, Mayra's sister Jamie Lee was physically abusive toward Eliseo, Mayra's nephew and Jamie Lee's son. One day after two-year-old Eliseo refused to eat, Jamie Lee beat him in the head with a hair brush, causing brain trauma that ultimately lead to his death.

Mayra agreed to take the fall for Eliseo's death to protect her sister and told investigators that she had accidentally crushed him with her weight. She figured she was too obese to be sent to prison; her life already was already more or less a prison sentence since she was physically confined to the house.

Medical examinations cast doubt on Mayra's story, and after much pressure she finally confessed to covering for her sister. Jamie Lee was sentenced to 15 years in jail for the murder of her son.

Currently, Mayra weights about 750 lbs, but at her heaviest she weighed around 1,100 lbs.

Perhaps the most tragic and creepy story is that of Susanne Eman and her husband-to-be Parker Clack. Eman, born 1979, is a mother of two who has one goal in life: to become the fattest woman ever recorded. Parker Clack is a chef who loves to cook, loves large women and wants to help Eman reach her goal. He cooks and she eats, it is as Eman says "a match made in heaven."

Susanne Eman's current diet includes about 20,000 calories a day and to date she weighs about 770 lbs. Parker insists that he cares about her health and encourages her to exercise in moderation. The two reportedly love to swim together since she now has difficulty walking.

Sane people will be rooting against Eman achieving her dream.
