Why Are Liberals So Afraid of Fox News?

I wonder how many liberals who hate Fox News knew about CNN’s Senior Editor for the Middle East Octavia Nasr? I wonder before today after all the other news channels and lame stream media outlets were forced to report the news. The news that she was fired.

Those of us who watch Fox News knew the real story, the story behind the firing. If it wasn’t for Fox News, this woman’s job might still have been very secure and they could still keep their dirty secret. About the liberal, anti-Jew, anti-Christian, anti-Conservative bias of the lame stream media. Thanks to Fox News, this is one time they couldn’t hide under their liberal bias tent.

I wonder how many liberals knew about the "Tweet" this woman sent that got her fired? It’s a shame too, because those who hate Fox News, and there are many liberals who do, are missing something. They’re missing the news.

Nasr Tweeted 150 characters as it were, and it's what got her fired. She wrote with regard to the death of a Hezebullah leader. “…sad to hear of the passing of Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah…One of Hezbollah's giants I respect a lot."

It is fascinating to me the ignorant Hubs I’ve read and other blogs regarding liberal hatred for Fox News. They are stunningly ignorant in fact and I have found no exception to the blogs or Hubs I can stomach long enough to read with regard to this topic. They all complain bitterly and usually hatefully about Glen Beck, Hannity and O’Reily as being biased. They’ll even add examples – but most times not – because they haven’t watched Fox News for one thing.

For another, they obviously don’t know the difference between News Commentary and Fox News.

And even the commentary on Fox News has opposing view points. Let’s name just some of the liberals I see consistently on Fox:

Juan Williams (I always listen to him even though I disagree)

Bob Beckel (I really like this guy, he makes me laugh - don't agree with him, but he's always interesting)

Greta Van Sustern

Mary Ann Marsh

Kristen Powers

Alan Colmes (love him, I’ve written him and he was gracious enough to answer)

Marc Lamont Hill (fired but has been appearing on Fox again so obviously is back)

Jane Hall

Neil Gabler

Geraldo Rivera

NPR’s Mara Liasson (one of my favs who is on every night)

This is by far not even a comprehensive list because it doesn’t include the non-regulars who do guest spots. I defy anyone to find me five regular conservative commentators on MSNBC, CNN, CBS or NBC. I defy them to find a conservative ever on any of their programming, be it News Commentary or just the News.

Liberals must be frightened about the truth. Is Fox News perfect? Of course not. But it’s by far the best thing out there and they will report the truth – for the most part, about what is going on and they will present even the commentary with guests who have opinions on the other side of the matter.

I had the misfortune; over the 4th of July holiday to have a conversation with a liberal (who will remain nameless). Let’s call him Joe. Joe admitted he didn’t watch T.V. news, didn’t use the internet and primarily listened to NPR on the radio. Now there’s a bastion of unbiased news for ya!

We talked about the oil crisis and I, knowing he was a vegetarian and extreme liberal, decided to find out what he thought of President Obama not doing anything (essentially) about the oil spill. His two basic points:

America is “addicted” to oil. We needed to end our dependence on oil.

The oil spill isn’t that bad.

He elaborated on this one a bit telling me that if we “dug deep down” in the sand, it’s a minuscule amount of oil washing up on the beaches.

Oh really?

Actually, Fox News uncovered that when we dug deep down in the sand on some beaches there was a boat load of oil – pun intended – underneath “fresh sand” indicating a possible cover-up.

But let’s get back to why I was so stunned by Joe’s comments. When I came home, I heard from one of my favorite Hubbers. She told me via private email she had the “misfortune” of having talked to someone over the 4th of July holiday who was a liberal. My friend said the liberal told her, THE OIL SPILL WASN’T ALL THAT BAD AND NOT MUCH WAS WASHING UP ON THE SHORES.

Can we spell “lemming” or “parrot” or “idiot?” Sorry about the idiot part but can liberals BE any less informed? They’re so terrified of watching Fox News because THEY MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING that would make them understand their fanciful beliefs – global warming, government is the god they need to worship and receive all sustenance from, we’re not taxed enough…the oil spill isn’t that bad ----- are-----uh…well not such good ideas! It would mean they would have to change their faith in the things they worship. And they’re not willing to do that.

I leave you with this, “To make a conservative mad, lie to them. To make a liberal mad, tell them the truth.”

Great hub, cant wait for a liberal to post a rant and prove your point on here LOL. honestly Im sick of the stupidity of much of the left. they take a decent issue and then take it so far over the top no one wants to even work with it.

I just read a question that said Animal testing was so bad that we should stop using animals and test on people. What kind of Mor..... Person can even justify that.

oh well. if you dont learn from the past your lucky if you live to repeat it.

oh well Im no where near as Eloquent as you are so Ill end with Great hub. keep up the good work Cjv. I voted up.

Great work Carol. I love the very valid and insightful observations you made here. It is much like the lib vs. conservative stuff....if conservatives dislike guns, they don't buy guns, if libs dislike guns, they want them outlawed so nobody can have one. I thought the left loves to espouse freedom and choice? Obviously, that only applies if the choices you make seem good to them.

Tonight on O'Reilly, he had a hispanic guy who he asked about the 1,100 illegals in jails in AZ for committing crimes, the lib just kept changing the subject and dodging the question. Had I been the host, after one dodge, the guest would have been GONE! IMO, O'Reilly is too liberal. Those who dislike him have obviously never watched and listened. As you said, libs just hate to face the truth, they seem pretty full of animosity for facts in general!

Awesome hub. I love your matter of fact way of stating things! My first thought when I read the title of your hub (Why are Liberals so Afraid of Fox News?) was "Because they report facts--the truth!" :)

Keep up the good work.

outdoorsguy - I've read your Hubs, you give yourself too little credit - but anyway - your comments add a great deal to the discussion and I always hope you'll "stop by" and leave your thoughts. Thanks for doing so again.

I will never forget seeing an underground Peta video - I was quite young - they broke into a lab. Mind you, I've done animal rescue for over 15 years - so I'm very, very into no mistreatment of any animal.

They show them opening a lab door where the animals were apparently, and a lab worker surprised them, asking what it was they were doing there. One of the PETA people took the lab guys hair in his fist, and slammed and I mean slammed so hard you couldn't help but gasp watching it - into the lab door. The lab guy crumpled and they went in to "free" the animals.

I could NOT believe that they had no problem possibly KILLING a man to "save" animals. I was so shocked by this - before that video actually thinking this organization was doing some good for abused and neglected animals. But because I have a BRAIN in my head - I denounced them forever.

It's as everyone is saying here - liberalism IS the religion!

Thanks for stopping by - always great to read your comments!

EXACTLY Sheri- that's a very accurate description of a liberal. I remember years ago listening to Rush Limbaugh and he was saying that the liberals wanted to ban all SUV's. I thought it was ridiculous because the SUV was the best selling vehicle for pretty much all the major car makers. This was when they first became popular and the liberals were just going berserk about all the fuel they wasted.

Now - fast forward - the Obama administration owns the car companies and there are overpriced hybrids and many of the models have gone away. They really DID get rid of the SUV essentially - the eco-nazis have taken over the car world and look what we're stuck with! Union/government owned car companies forcing me for the first time in my adult life - to consider buying foreign because I REFUSE to knowingly give money tot the union thugs any longer.

Scary stuff! Thanks for leaving your thoughts!

Tom - and that's why Fox's audience keeps growing. I'm sure there are closet liberals out there - and the more they watch Fox News, the more they'll learn and hopefully we'll start losing more liberals. We can only pray! Thanks Tom!

Thank you GoJiJuice - wow - that's quite a user name! LOL! Thank you so much for your gracious comments. Hopefully this writing style will eventually translate into the sales of my novel I'm writing - IF the publisher who has the manuscript actually publishes it! Every comment like yours is a gift - hopefully that can be used to show the publisher that people will read what I write - just give me a chance. So my thanks goes deeper than just "thanks!"

Interesting hub, cjv123!

I think people tend to dislike or fear certain channels / people / groups because it's so easy to stick to heuristics and not actually do the research to find out for themselves.

It's nice to see that you HAVE looked into more detail with Fox News. If only all of us cared enough to look deeper into things we'd otherwise dislike or not trust! I think the world would be a better place if we did.

Terrific hub Carol. I am so happy you named all the liberals that appear on Fox. Liberals never watch Fox but feel quite comfortable attacking the network. I suppose that for them ignorance is bliss. I give this hub a giant thumbs up!

And Pop - that's not even a comprehensive list! While I wrote this Hub I was watching Fox and they had a liberal guest commentator I didn't know the name of. They are always having guest liberals on. I listed some of the regulars and as I said, I didn't even list them all!

Thanks for stopping by Poppy!

My friend asked me this same question the other day. He and his wife own a fitness studio and, being highly conservative, they often play FOX news on the TVs there. However, many of the members are highly liberal and complain about FOX--before they even give it a chance to see what exactly the newscasters are talking about. I believe the reason individuals are so against FOX is because there is a stigma that FOX is conservative and CNN/other mainstream media (notably CBS, NBC, and ABC) are liberal. What fascinates me is that after watching CNN for years and years, I finally started watching FOX and for the first time in my life began to feel like I was actually getting "news"--not some watered down version of a hidden liberal agenda (which, if you've watched CNN lately) is typically just played over and over again.

cjv123 profile image

cjv123 6 years ago from Michigan Author

Thanks tiffianyh - I can't imagine what it must be like to have a business where you'd have to deal with liberal close-mindedness.

I understand you're in your twenties. We need more like you - willing to speak out and take a stand for liberty and the constitution! I'm very glad you stopped by!

I think you forget that a lot of us liberals are Jews =(

I don't understand why the right thinks we are anti-Semitic just because we see through Israel lies.

cjv123 profile image

I think it's quite the "other side" produces far more "lies" than Israel does Ann and I believe the left wing media helps to make their case against Israel very unfairly.

You know one thing you stated that got me thinking, the liberals that work for FoxNews, are not typical, to the fact that most of these guys are extremely civil and are good people. I think that bothers many liberals because they are not rude, mean and disrespectful to those on the right....

just an observation.

cjv123 profile image

cjv123 6 years ago from Michigan Author

Exactly CMerritt - and it's precisely why I can listen to a liberal on the Fox News channel. They aren't obnoxious, brainless parroting idiots. I don't usually ever agree with them, but I can listen to their point of view because they are civil and intelligent.

Drew 6 years ago

The libs are still stuck on the whole "Teabagger" thing, which I find very humourus because it come from a real "Teabagger" that babbles hate and is one of them, and by one of them, I mean "a lib" who just happens to be a "tickle me homo"

cjv123 profile image

cjv123 6 years ago from Michigan Author

Drew, who coined that "Teabagger" phrase, which to the disgust of most any civilized individual our own President used? What a class act our President is. Now he's going to church and liberals will remain the idiots they are and think, "See, he's a good Christian man..." But I digress.

Thanks for the comments Drew. Sorry it took me too long to respond.

You must watch Fox if you want to know what is really going on. There are plenty of other outlets where you can find the other side of the story.

I find it unfortunate that you have the opportunity to make a rational argument for a conservative viewpoint, but instead choose to focus on generalizations and negative personal experiences you have had with individual liberals. From your responses, it seems that you are writing to your readership (what we might call "preaching to the choir") rather than the wide variety of people who might stumble on your hub. If you feel so passionately about your message, you might try to broaden your horizons.

Everyone who says that Fox is the only way to get the news accurately is simply misinformed. There are so many publications, both in print and online, that take the effort to go into a given situation in more detail than a TV news source that must fit a great deal of news into an allotted time slot. If you are intelligent enough to recognize bias, as you and your other respondents imply that you are, wouldn't it be better to draw facts from a variety of sources and use your best judgment to get a clear idea of what's going on, both in America and in the world? This is not to say that you should abandon Fox, but rather that you might do well to take a more comprehensive look at the sources available to you.

This is meant to be helpful, not hateful. If you feel your voice should be heard, a new approach may be beneficial. Just a suggestion.

cjv123 profile image

cjv123 5 years ago from Michigan Author

LaurelB, I never said that Fox is the "only way to get the news." You use that as the basis/thesis of your argument, but I never wrote it.

Thanks for your comments anyway.

I agree with on the liberal commentors they have. All of them seem to be classy individuals, who can converse without becoming obnoxious.

Sorry, that was more addressed to Karen Wodke, and I should have said "imply" rather than "said." "You must watch Fox if you want to know what's going on" does imply that it's the only *legitimate* news source.

cjv123 profile image

cjv123 5 years ago from Michigan Author

Not exactly LaurelB - when it comes to Television news, yes, that's actually quite true. However, if you read my other Hubs you'd know that another source I receive my news from is The Wall Street Journal. I have a subscription to that newspaper, the only one I have delivered to my home. However, currently on my iPad I have "FLUD News", WXYZ.com Channel 7 News (ABC), The Drudge Report, The New York Post, Fluent News, BBC News, Examiner, USA Today and Detroit News. I admit, I don't read all every single day but I try to read The WSJ and a chunk of the rest every day. I'm a kind of news junkie. So my sources do greatly vary.

Vese 5 years ago

No fear of Fox here. My problem with Fox is that they are a propaganda outlet for the GOP...and authoritarian personalities (many of whom commenting here) will swallow anything they see on Fox and never bother to fact check or even question any of it.

Fox can keep doing what they're doing, but to call themselves "fair and balanced" is simply laughable. The lies and misinformation peddled on Fox are well documented...Roger Ailes even admitted that Fox "is the balance" to other news outlets...which makes them, by definition, a conservative propaganda outlet. Only telling one side of a story does not make you "fair and balanced".

Ya, it's amazing to me that the liberals actually complain about Fox news. Seeing that they control upwards to 85-90% of the printed and TV media, I guess I have to agree with David Horowitz when he says "inside every liberal is a totalitarian screaming to get out".

What liberals really oppose is what they pretend to be for- free speech! I think liberalism is more of a religion of tyranny than just a set of political ideals. How else can you account for their bizarre behavior.

I didn't discover Fox News until after the Benghazi incident and I could not believe no news was covering it and when had we ever had men killed and not gone in to help them? I smelled a rat from the start and then I found Fox News and since that day I always go there to find out what is happening in our world! Some news people "might" mention it but then they "might" not! So I am at Fox News and nowhere else! I always know what is going on!
