If unable to find photos, is it advisable to link to photos that you can find?
I am writing about an endangered animal, and I am unable to find any actual photos of the animal. I can add a text capsule that says, to view this animal, click here. and then link the picture site.
My concern, is that should the site name later be used for something else, I run the risk of someone clicking and something offensive coming up. What do you think?
If you Google the animal it should come up. If it does click picture and left click mouse and click (save as) and then you will have it in your PC to uploadto your photo capsule. Not sure if this answer was what you were askiing if not sorry
the clean life - but I don't know if it is copyrighted or not. I need photos that I can legally get permission to use before putting them in my hub. It is these pictures that you mentioned that I want to link to, without placing the actual picture on my hub. I'm afraid my question was not very clear. Sorry. Thanks for the answer though.
try to find a site about endangered animals and see if there is a picture of that animal. Since the site would be about endangered animals there is no reason to assume that someone will take over the site and put on something offensive. You cannot guard against someone posting a message to the site that is offensive, but can't worry about what *might* happen in the future. Then post a link in the links capsule
Hi homesteadbound, I think your proposed solution of providing a link is a good one to avoid any copyright violations. If the link were to ever get BROKEN then HubPages would advise you of that in the "my account" section and you could quickly rectify it. However, if the link got CHANGED then yes you do run the risk of pointing a link to inaccurate information, in which case you might want to consider doing a regular check of your links. This gets to be a mammoth task when you have lots of hubs, but perhaps checking your links every 6 months would be reasonable just to make sure that they are still pointing to the image you expect. Hope this helps!
Whether you link the files directly to a site or upload from your PC, you need to ensure that you are not violating any copyright.
Unless if the picture author says it is free for commercial or non-commercial use you cannot take it just from their website or from the Google search and put in the HubPages. If you do so it is a copyright violation.
The best way is to ask them whether you can use it in your posting, get their permission and then upload or link it. In the attribution you can quote them as the original owners of the file.

Create a "hub." Note the quotes.I have written a lot of articles on the subject of marriage. I have them grouped, but I am considering creating a hub that highlights all of them. Each individual hubs link to the others, but as this is my most commonly written-on topic (and the one that is...

By this I don't mean that you don't write for any other site in parallel. What I mean is if you have written for one site more than X months/years should you just move? Can some one tell me the longest time a hubber has stayed with hub pages? What happens to the hubs of those that leave do they...
