As an older person, what I see around me is gross insecurity. This is promulgated by a need to be a "super star" possessing great powers of influence.
It takes a hugely insightful mind to strip away all of the facades created by talking heads to discover the true veins of power behind them. No American today can take anything from the media at face value lest they fall into the trap of being subtly indoctrinated by power addicted media moguls.
Gone are the days of just reporting "news" in its truest vernacular. Now, all "news" must have some ideologically treatise attached that is hoped to impact the most naive and impressionable.
This is not very different than what most dictators do in the early stages of their power strategies. Anywhere in the world today, there's some guy out there lusting for autonomous power of the world. Why?
There's an old saying about the "human well." When it's full, it needs nothing more lest it overflow and waste. When it's empty, it is totally useless except as a nesting place for vermin and insects.
