Bhojpuri is a language spoken in Bihar and surrounding states and countries such as Uttar Pradesh and Nepal. It is not considered as a seperate language but a dialect of the Hindi language. Bhojpuri is also spoken in countries such as Guyana, Suriname, Fiji, Trinidad and Tobago and Mauritius.
Large number of people speak the Bhojpuri language, currrently it is estimated that 80 million people speak the Bhojpuri language.
Although Bhojpuri was never popular despite that many people spoken and verbalised this language however thanks to the Hindi film industry it has become very trendy. Due to the language musical and literary heritage more and more Hindi movie directors are willing to incorporate Bhojpuri songs in the movie. This makes the movie very Indian plus gives it a Hindi or the cow belt touch. Recently the Hindi movie Dabangg was a major hit simply because of its Indianess and its simplicity not to mention that it gave the movie a Bihar and Uttar Pradesh touch.
Today Bhojpuri language has been extrememly popularised and sometimes even exploited to the very fullest. When songs in Bhojpuri is incorpated in Hindi movies it often attracts large crowds of people simply drawn to the extra song. For typical example is the Dabangg movie. The song "Munni Badnam Hui" was a major hit and attracted huge cinema crowds simply to watch this item song.
Similarly there are many Hindi and Indian movies that have places music styles from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and has worked.
