Monday Night Hubbing: "Wasted Time".
Time.
How often do we just sit around not doing anything? The countless seconds, minutes, and hours that we allow to pass us by. Sometimes we may sit back and just look at the clock slowly ticking. We've all heard of the popular phrases related to time and it's importance. It's indeed true that time is both crucial and important. Time isn't always guaranteed to us, and we've only given a certain amount of time on this planet to live our lives. You may ask how this all relates to this hub. Well, back in March of this year, I came across a gem of a song that truly captures the importance of time and not wasting it. What song am I talking about? The song is simply called "Wasted Time".
How I came across "Wasted Time".
Being that I'm a lover of music, I'm always online searching for new music and artists that will help inspire and motivate me. There is an artist by the name of Vikter Duplaix, that I'm a huge fan of. I've been listening to Duplaix's music for almost three years now. Vikter Duplaix is a singer, songwriter, producer, DJ, and multi-instrumentalist. Yes he is a very talented individual. I've actually written a review on one of his albums titled, "Bold and Beautiful" -- which can be read here. Not only has Duplaix released several solo albums of his own, he has also contributed to various artists projects as well. Sometime in 2010, Duplaix along with two other DJ's, released a free mixtape titled "For Players Only". I happened to come across the mixtape in late March of this year, and I downloaded it. I had previously heard many of the songs on the mixtape, but there were some that were brand new to me. Track number 2 on "For Players Only" titled, "Wasted Time" was one of them.
"Wasted Time" review.
I vividly recall the first time I heard "Wasted Time". The production of the beat instantly caught my ears. It sounded like a smooth jazz type beat, but had a very nice hip-hop feel and bass-line to it. Being that I was already a fan of Duplaix's beats, I was somewhat disappointed that I had just now come across this one. However, after doing added research, I found out that the song itself was from a German based group called "Jazzanova". Vikter Duplaix was just featured on the track as the vocalist. This wasn't a problem for me at all since the lyrics complemented the awesome instrumental. Vikter Duplaix's songwriting abilities never cease to amaze me. His lyrics and in-depth writing abilities wowed me on his solo album "Bold and Beautiful", and he continues to wow me on this track as well. After a minute or so of the amazing beat to this song playing, Duplaix enters saying: "For the rest of my life, there will be no wasted time". As the song enters it's bridge stage, Duplaix elaborates further by saying; "Don't know what tomorrow brings, but I'm not gonna miss anything. Gonna rise in the morning with the sun, and live each day like it's my last one. Can't waste my time".
Summary.
There's not really a day that goes by where I don't listen to "Wasted Time". Since hearing this inspiring song, I've done more research on the group Jazzanova. After hearing various songs from their albums, I've managed to become a fan of their music as well. One of the things that I really like about Vikter Duplaix is that his lyrics touches the soul of his listeners. At least that's what it does for me. Good music that brings a smile to our faces is something that I think is missing in most mainstream music today. As great as this song is, the message is something we can all resonate within our own lives. Time is of the essence, and we can't afford to waste it. For those of you who have never heard of Vikter Duplaix or Jazzanova, give the song a listen and let me know what you think. Thanks for reading.
