Needless to say, this news has really pissed off a lot of people online.  For those who don't know who ant man is, he's essentially one of Marvel's c-list characters, and he's a scientist that creates a machine that change his size.  He can either grow to the size of a giant (when he does this, he's referred to as Goliath), or he can shrink down to the size of an ant, and he can communicate with ants as well due to his machine.

Anyway, he even has a wife who ends up becoming the superheroine wasp, and blah blah. I won't bore you people with that stuff.  Long story short, Hank was the original ant man, and I know in the comics there was a second one named scott lang who took over for a little while, but anyway moving on.

When Paul Rudd was announced that he was playing ant man, people weren't exactly sure what to make of it.  Some were happy, while others didn't care.  I mean it's not like he's a big name anyway, but marvel studios never said which ant man he was playing.  would he be playing hank pym? or would he be scott lang?  well, it's been announced by marvel that michael douglas is cast as hank pym, which probably means that paul rudd is playing scott lang.  Personally, i could care less because ant man is such a small character (no pun intended) anyway that they can get away with liberties to his character as long as they can tell a great story, but most internet fans are angry.  they claim michael douglas is way too OLD to play hank pym, and that pym should not only be younger, but he should be the only ant man.

what are your thoughts on this casting?

I love Paul Rudd, not a fan of Michael Douglas, never heard of Ant Man or Scott Lang... I would see just about anything with Paul Rudd in it.

so i guess that means you'll be seeing the ant man movie in 2015 because paul rudd will be the main star right?

I'm actually rather surprised that they're making an Ant-Man movie, period. Outside of the hardcore comic book fanboy community nobody knows who the hell Ant-Man is.

Michael Douglas is way too damn old to still be playing action hero roles, but fanboys freaking out over casting comes with the territory. Nobody's EVER totally happy with the casting of a superhero movie. I'm sure that in 1977 people looked at Christopher Reeve and said "Are you kidding? That guy would be a TERRIBLE Superman!"
