On Sunday, September 13, 2015 during the 2016 Miss America contest, Sam Haskell, CEO of the Miss America organization welcomed Vanessa Williams, Miss America 1983 back and apologized to her for the way she was treated by the Miss America organization in the past. Mr. Haskell stated that Ms. Williams lived her life in grace and was an exemplary Miss America. This apology brought Ms. Williams and her mother, Helen Williams, to tears. It also brought a standing ovation from the audience. Yes, Ms. Williams has finally come home to Miss America where there was a tribute to her as Miss America and her outstanding contributions to the field of entertainment. As the MOST SUCCESSFUL Miss America, it is about time that she was recognized and respected by the Miss America organization. Yes, she was the head judge in the contest. Vanessa Williams has stated that success is the sweetest revenge and she was correct! What are YOUR thoughts regarding the apology? Do you feel that the apology was long overdue?
