A prominent member of the academy which awards the Nobel literature prize slammed this year's laureate Bob Dylan as arrogant on Friday, citing his total silence since the award was announced last week. The US singer-songwriter has not responded to repeated phone calls from the Swedish Academy, nor reacted in any way in public to the news.Dylan, 75, whose lyrics have influenced generations of fans, is the first songwriter to win the literature prize. Apparently ,Bob hasn't responded to their invitation to the banquet and prize handed out by King Gustaf and they don't know what to do about it. I think I read that Bob doesn't want it? Anyone think he's arrogant too? http://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/nob … li=BBnb7Kz
Never been a fan of Dylan but I respect him for his silence. I don't see it as arrogant. Modest, maybe. Disinterested, probably. But not arrogant. I think he knows what influence he wielded over an entire generation of Americans. Being awarded by an establishment entity is very alien to what he stood for.
