Indian singer in guinness book of world record
Did you know? Lata Mangeshkar's name is there in the Guinness Book of World Records as the singer of the highest number of songs, with a total of more than 26,000 songs and this record has not been broken till date.
Lata's career extends to about a fifty years in which she has won the hearts of millions of her listeners throughout the world by her melodious voice. She has sung in almost all main Indian languages. It is due to this magical voice that many lyric writers and music directors became successful. She received many awards and the notable ones among the lot are the "Padma Shri" award and the prestigious film fare awards for best singer, which she received many a times.
Lata Mangeshkar was born on the 29th September 1928 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. Her first guru was her father.
Her song "Aye mere wathan ke logon" written by late lyricist Kavi Pradeep at the time of Sino Indian war was one which touched the hearts and welled the eyes of many across our country and in fact, across the world. The then Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru himself told Lata " Beti, tune muhje rula diya" meaning " daughter, you made my eyes moist".
