Emmerdale's upcoming fire will see at least two best love characters perish in the flames. It is later revealed that the fire was started deliberately and Victoria Cottage where Katie, Gennie and Chaz are all living was the arsonists target.

Unfortunately the fire gets out of hand and is soon spreading across the village right up to Viv's post office. The fire starts in the night while most of the residents are sleeping, Viewers will see Detective Nick Henshall pour petrol on and around the bin of trash that Zack and Lisa have left outside and will then set it alight. Karl and Andy are the first to discover the flames that are already tearing through the cottages. Andy's at home with Ryan and notices the flames coming from Victoria cottage he shouts to Ryan to phone 999 and rushes outside, once there Andy makes the rash decision to run into the burning cottage and save Katie from the fire.

Ashley and Ryan then joins Karl and they make a desperate attempt to get the sleeping residents out to safety, but with the fire becoming out of control, can they save them all in time? As shocked residents look on everyone is frantically trying to save loved ones and find out who is actually still in their homes and who isn't. There is just so much terror and confusion going on all at once.

Poor Betty is sleeping in her armchair when she finds herself trapped in Keepers Cottage, while Viv is over at her flat having drank herself into a stupor after Terry rejected her advances, Viv is now in a deep sleep oblivious to the fire below. Things don't look good for Brenda and Terry either when their house goes up in flames and Brenda is fast asleep. But the worse will be the three girls who are trapped in Victoria Cottage where the fire was started, and all of them are also still asleep. Katie is first to wake up when she hears Andy screaming for the girls to get out of the house and to Katie's horror she realizes that her home is ablaze. who will get out alive? It is later revealed that the fire was started by someone within the community, and with both Karl and Andy wandering about the village late at night they are first on the police's suspect list. Meanwhile Hazel refuses to leave Jackson while the fire spreads and poor Victoria is in the pub frozen by bad memories of her Mum.

Both men have a motive, Andy is annoyed about Katie's growing relationship with Detective Nick Henshall and we all know Andy has a history of arson when he killed his adoptive mum Sarah. And then there's Karl who has just been jilted and humiliated by Chaz.

But as we all now know it was Detective Nick Henshall that started the fire after Katie dumped him, but as he is a police officer he is in the perfect position to frame Andy Sugden for the crime.

As we know Katie is being stalked by someone who she first suspects could be Andy, Katie has had anonymous phone calls and someone has also broke into her home, all these incidents are making her rely on Detective Nick Henshall more and more because he makes her feel safe and protected. But Emmerdale have recently revealed that jealous Nick will try to move Andy Sugden out of the picture and what better way than by sending Andy to prison.

Emmerdale actress Sammy Winward who plays Katie has recently admitted her characters stalker plot gets very dangerous, the actress then teased "Katie has not even considered that it could be her current flame Detective Nick Henshall."

Just before the fire is lit Katie goes on a date with Detective Nick Henshall but things soon turn sour when his late wife becomes the topic of conversation, later when Katie and Nick arrive back in the dales they are confronted by Andy and an outburst breaks out prompting Katie to end her relationship with the detective.

Emmerdale bosses said

“This is going to be one of the most dramatic and tragic events ever to rock ‘Emmerdale’ and no-one will be untouched by the fire’s devastating consequences. The whole village will be thrown together for these gripping and heart-wrenching episodes which will launch us into an unmissable 2011."

Viv Hope and Brenda and Gennie Walker are all due to be leaving soon so could one of these be a fire victim?

I think Viv will perish in the fire which is why her daughter Kelly Windsor returns to the soap. And also Terry or Gennie which will cause a grief stricken Brenda to leave the dales behind.

Possible Victims

1. Betty Eagleton

2. Gennie Walker

3. Chastity Dingle

4. Katie Sugden

5. Brenda Walker

6. Terry Woods

7. Viv Hope

The Investigation Begins

Detective Nick Henshall confirms that they believe the burglary at Victoria Cottage and the nuisance phone calls are linked to the recent arsonist attack. He later begins questioning the residents about the fire but not before reminding his police colleagues that Andy Sugden has a history of arson.

Detective Henshall then visits Andy at work and asks Andy to accompany him down to the station for questioning, Andy agrees but soon realises that he is their number one suspect.

Andy tries to remain calm telling the police that he was with Ryan when he fire started, later Ryan reassures Andy that the Police are just trying to scare him and that he has nothing to worry about. Meanwhile everyone is still in shock by the fire as funeral arrangements get under way.

As the first funeral takes place, Andy is worried about going as the villagers still suspect it was him who started the fire, Ryan and Dianne persuade him to go assuring him that not everyone believes he did it. Later Andy agrees to go and show his respects but as he arrives at the funeral the villagers are shocked to see him there, and as the coffin is carried in angry mourners demand that Andy leave the church. After the funeral Debbie goes to find Andy who is upset that the villagers would treat him that way when he was the one that risked his life to save others.

The next day Andy attends an event at his daughter Sarah's school, but when he is asked to leave because angry parents do not want him there Andy worries what the situation is doing to his family and decides it will be best if he just leaves the village. Debbie warns him that it will appear to people that he is running away but Andy doesn't care what it looks like he has had enough.

Will Andy go to prison for arson or will someone find out the detectives secret?

Updated

Emmerdale recently made a mistake when they revealed in a TV listing that villagers pay tribute to Viv Hope and Terry Woods, Radio Times online tv listing also missed the two characters off their cast list for the episodes after the fire.

Further Update

It would appear that Andy Sugden is not the only possible suspect on the villagers lips this week, and when Carl King learns his name has cropped up he is furious. We all know it was Detective Nick Henshall that started the fire but the villagers don't, and with the nuisance calls starting after Chaz jilted and humiliated Carl at Christmas, things are not looking to good for him. They don't get any better either when Carl has a heated exchange with Chaz in the pub and when he makes the mistake of lashing out in front of Nick he soon finds himself arrested.

Yes we know Nick started it, Terry is alive and well at the moment too so either the TV listings lied on purpose to keep us guessing or Terry dies trying to save Viv :(

I think that Andy should not bother Kathie any more and get his act together,Nick should meet with an accident.
