Being a mom of seven children.

The last one.

We have a big household. There is me and Arno (my husband) and our 7 children; Don, Bo, Diego, Dillon, Xander, Alena and Elyze. We also have Bas living with us, a friend of the family.

Our youngest (elyze) is 5, she´s a real dominant girl. Everything needs to go her way or else.... I think being the youngest one has it´s downside. Others are bigger, wiser, are allowed more and are definitely stronger. I guess you have to build a character with all those brothers and sisters.

The two of us also have a very tight connection, it´s like having a soul-mate with your own daughter. I guess her birth had something to do with that; I never really had troubles giving birth, it always went quick and easy. But the last one was the quickest ever! and because of that I did it all by myself. The nurse had just left to find a doctor, I asked her to do so because I knew I was ready (although she didn´t believe me). And Arno had not arrived just yet, because we live 45 minutes away from the hospital and I arrived the night before.

It took me 1 push and Elyze ended half a meter away from me on the bed. When the nurse came in she had a shock! I have to say it could have ended differently as well, I think I was very lucky nothing went wrong!

Last "first day" in school.

This is her last year in nursery school. Soon all of the kids are in primary school, secondary school or even working. It´s a weird feeling to know she is the end of the line.

After 15 years there will be no more babies or toddlers. The diapers have gone for a while already. She´s the last one to sleep in our bed after a nightmare or to fall a sleep on the sofa trying to stay awake.

That is...... until the oldest one brings us grand-children!

Looks like you have a happy big family. Enjoy your kids--they grow up so fast but I guess, you already know that.
