When we moved into this house, the bedroom that we were planning on putting Natalie's nursery in was painted an awful magenta and purple combination, complete with Dora the Explorer border. While this may have been okay for a toddler that was obsessed with the cartoon character, this simply wasn't going to fly by my standards.

For some reason, I have developed an obsession with owls. They were even the focus of our wedding invitations. So naturally, I wanted to incorporate them into the nursery decor. One night I was watching the Cake Boss on TLC, the episode showing the birth of their latest bakery, and I fell in love with the idea of during a mural on the wall depicting a tree.

My husband is a great artist, so we set to work. We painted over the nasty purple, made the walls white and he free-handed a spindly looking tree with some flowers, leaves and of course a family of owls. I painted it in my spare time, using craft paint.

I believe this is a great way to decorate your nursery because not only can you personalize it to fit your needs/wants, but some wall stickers can be extremely overpriced and just aren't as personal. This project took a while, but I considered it a labor of love. <3
