I don't Like You're Attitude.......

Patience my ass.......I'm gonna deck him!

Ok , so I'm a pretty patient kind of person , I'm fairly well known for being a calm , cool and collective kind of person. Actually , by todays standards at least , I'm a pushover!  More than likely in any kind of situation , I'm pretty much a 'turn your cheek the other' way  kind of guy.
But , I must admit  it  , I'm also middle aged now , and being so ,  I  am evolving emotionally and  , as well ,in the ways of maturity .  Here's the thing , I am becoming  somewhat unpredictable , even to myself !
Today , probably since the eighties  in America ,  It seems popular to have "attitude " !  Oh , I know , We all have attitudes , right !  It's just  that some are  decent  and all the rest are  something else entirely.  As well  , we have to remember ,  it's cute  , some attitues yes cute !
You know the ones , the four year old  that sasses his mother in the toy aisle at Wallmart  , or the teenager with a keen sense of humor that all the kids laugh at.
The point I'm trying to make is , and not very well ,is that  it's not cool to show attitude at everything and all of the time .  I have noticed more and more in the last few years that lousy attitudes are everywhere,  brash  , arrogant  and all with an intent to annoy the pants off someone.  Maybe , maybe it's even an American thing  , you know?  The immage  that for years  hollywood  movies ,  our great and unmatched media  and even our political arena likes to  project.  That somehow , if you have an attitude about something , you're the winner!
Well I have news for all of those with attitudes that  project an aura of selfishness. Whether in traffic  , in line at the store ,  or on the street.   Remember this at all times ;  The guy that just looks mildly annoyed at your antics  , that smiles at your snide remarks  , that  just seems to not notice  your cutting him off at the yield sign  or the highway exit .  His patience  is wearing thin !   Hence , example  ,  I saw a man this last summer who  , apparently annoyed about being tailgated by another car  , abruptly stopped in traffic,  right in the middle of  all traffic  , calmly and collectively got out of his van  walked back to the car behind him and when the guy tailgating him opened his window to inquire of "your problem " , swung  very fast and not too gently  at the offenders chin  and connected quite nicely ,  I might add !   Then slowly walked back to his van and  drove slowly away !  It was beautiful.
I know , you're saying  , "Oh,  but that's not very nice " ,  and yes , you're right!.  However  ,  I have to say  it made me smile ....... just a little one!  The sad part is  though ,  I'm somehow sure  that the guy that  got hit didn't even know  why .  You see, somehow , I know that the one with "The Attitude " , probably isn't going to read this or listen to another person  talk about behavior , heck , he probably can't even read .  But  ,  If you ever  are following a  blue minivan  with tinted glass  and a  bumper sticker that says  " Back off !"  It might be a good idea to give him  "A little room "...........

Well said. I don't know why it is but we live i a microwave society and stand with our hands in the air saying HURRY UP! Attitude sure makes a difference and patience is a virtue in short supply. Great read and and a great hub.

Patient is expensive these days, mostly with individual and selfish attitude we tend to grow by the time. I learned how hard it is to do the right things (to be patient)and how tempting it is to kick every butt of those who put us into trouble. LOL. But we should always try at our best because patient is priceless.

Thank you.

The 'attitude' I like is self respect and extending that respect to others.

Those who grab an 'attitude' are actually just immature people who will never be happy until they finally grow up.

Great hub!

ahorseback - I read this article for the many truths in it, however, there are times when I more appreciate "attitude" than I do "platitude." Give me some hot sauce instead of plain vanilla.

Good article here. Thanks.

Gus :-)))

I used to get frustrated with people, but I've found as I have gotten older that I feel sorry for them more often than I get angry. It must be awful to be stressed out so much of the time. Now, if they're crowding me, I usually just slow down and give them a pinky wave and a smile as they roar past.

Great hub! How nice would this world be if we all just took a step back, a deep breath, and smiled.. and meant it.

Don't get me wrong Gus , I have met plenty with an attitude that I enjoyed , I have a friend who is very much like grumpy old men . I get a hell of a kick out of him! Thanks for understanding.

Give me patience and I want it NOW! ;)

In all seriousness this was an on point hub my friend! Patience it seems is something fading into a past - perhaps due to a culture that has it all at their finger tips and has not learned the balances of the cycle of life. When all is given immediately in our lives with out having to work for it or learn that things do not just happen we fail to learn patience in any other area as well ... the only thing your age is showing in this is that we knew a better time when "people" were family related or not and to be treated as such.

Hah , As usual again you take the words that I dont even understand from why or where they came and give them meaning. Nice "seeing" you again. Hugs. Ed.

It's about the circumstance. After that guy got hit you can bet your sweat he knew why and will think twice before he does it again. Surely we have all made mistakes that we consider a life lesson and don't repeat it unless we are provoked big time. He got punched in the face is because he showed no respect. The only thing keeping everyone in check nowadays is all the bogus law suits. If I can't handle things diplomatically, I pretty much turn the other cheek and kiss it up to God. Simply put: What goes around comes around ten fold.

I totally believe that whatever goes around comes around,.. That's why I stopped being pissed when people are arrogant and I just let them rant. I don't even hold it inside, thats why I train ninjutsu, let the stress out!! People are only going to change if they want too. Its ok, let them think what they want, truth always comes out..

I agree totally!! I have my little attitude sometimes too, and I am from the younger generation it is hard to avoid it, but I think it comes out when needed. And lately I can't stand it when I go to the store and ask for help with something and I get attitude, I complain like theres no tomorrow with that kind of stuff. Imagine that?! People getting paid to offer customer service and they can't even do it right. Now I sound like an angry person, I'm not lol I just say what it is when I see something that is not right, in a nice way of course!

And Karma will get everyone back, so we mustn't worry like primpo says!

Great hub, I totally know how you feel :)
