My Son's Fear

Recently my nine year old son has been drinking lots of milk in an attempt to increase his height. His endeavored has brought back an event that happened when he was five years old. On one of our family outings we stopped at a gas station to refuel the van as well as ourselves. After the van was refueled I went inside to purchase some drinks and snacks for everyone. As I was inside the store a car had pulled up and two guys exited and proceeded to fill up their car. My wife gave it no thought of these men until she heard our son becoming very emotional and petrified scared of these two men being so close to our van.

As I returned to the van, passing out the refreshments I asked him, as did my wife, an array of questions as to why he felt so scared of these two men. Was it because they are black, the type of music coming from their car, the way they were talking. But as we left the gas station he felt more relaxed and was ready to tell us as to why he felt threatened by these two men.

They were very tall.
