Make the best use of any documents you have - Family History

Always look at documents more closely

Over the years you put pieces of paper aside and then one day someone else discovers them. Well that is what happened to me when I started to research the family tree. I had a few boxes of documents and never really looked at them more as a individual peices of papers and not as a collection for history research.

Well I have put some repair invoices and Rent books which give me a history of the house I was brought up in- 1 New Buildings, Black Bull, Knypersley, Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire.

Was the House purchased

In the documents I found, I found a number of rent book, and my grandfather was paying 14/6 in rent a week. (UK NOW 73 Pence) He paid rent uptill 21.2.1947 to a Mr A Law, 67Chester Crescent, Newcastle Under Lyme, Staffordshire, United Kingdom

House and Shop Purchased

House and Shop now owned by Thomas Edwin Hill.

After the shop and house was purchased, it looks like it needed some work.......

Time for a garage

Time for my dad to buy a garage, perhaps to put his Matchless and sidecar in....
