Some Days

Some days I laugh, some days I cry
Some days I stop and ask myself why
Why you were the chosen one
Of all the boys, why choose my son?

Some people say I'm special
And that's why you were sent to me
And all that has happened
Is simply meant to be

They knew that we were strong enough
To make this journey together
And I would face the world with you
In every kind of weather

Through the good times and the bad times
And when the days are really tough
I know that my love for you
Will always be enough

I can't lie and say it's easy
And some days I struggle to cope
But even at times of deep despair
There always will be hope

On the days I'm tired and weary
When all the world seems bleak
I somehow find the strength to face
Another day, another week

You are my inspiration
You've taught me how to be strong
I'll always be right beside you
To help and guide you along

The days that I find difficult
I look at you and know
That no one else could love you
The way I love you so

My daughter Donna does a wonderful job with Ben, my beautiful grandson. She always finds time to help other parents whose children also have autism. I hope this lovely poem touches some people as her sincere words are from the heart. Well done Donna - I love you and Ben very much X

Thank you all for such wonderful comments. My son Ben has taught me the meaning of true strength. When he was diagnosed with Severe Autism a year ago,it inspired me to start writing poetry again after taking a break from it for many years. I have found it a positive way of coping with the diagnosis and it also helps other parents going through a similar situation. Thanks again to all of you for taking the time to post a comment, it means a lot to me.
