So can we separate ourselves from God.
Based on passages from the Bible! What is Apostasy?
So here is the Question if the bible say's there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God. Why are there still those who are being carried away by false doctrines. Can we be separated by the Love of God.
In trying to understand the Theology we must first look over what exactly is Apostasy.
Apostasy in Christianity refers to the rejection of Christianity by someone who formerly was a Christian. The term apostasy comes from the Greek word apostasia ("ἀποστασία") meaning defection, departure, revolt or rebellion. It has been described as "a willful falling away from, or rebellion against, Christian truth. Apostasy is the rejection of Christ by one who has been a Christian...
As Christians there are Three very destructive things that can Rein us into Apostasy.
1. Temptations: Christians were tempted to engage in various vices that were a part of their lives before they became Christians (idolatry, sexual immorality, covetousness, etc.).
Falling to temptation, can do numerous things in our lives. It can lead us into religious out ward acts, and separate us inside from hearing the voice of the Lord.
2. Deceptions: Christians encountered various heresies and false teachings spread by false teachers and prophets that threatened to seduce them away from their pure devotion to Christ.
Deceptions can come in the form of being disobedient. This is where we decide what part of Gods word we want to hear. After we listen we open a door for seducing spirits. That will in turn cause us to be deceived ... Eve was listening to that seducing spirit when the serpent said did God really say.... here he was questioning what God said. His Word..
3. Persecutions: Christians were persecuted by the governing powers of the day for their allegiance to Christ. Many Christians were threatened with certain death if they would not deny Christ.
So in some countries this may still be the case.. However in America we have freedom of religion. Our persecutions are still here they a assassins of character. Persecutions from other faiths and circumstance. They can cause someone to give in and discount thier faith. Which is very silly cause God not only never leaves you, he gives you the power to get through every situation you face.
We all want to limit God. We come to a place where we think that he will wash his hands of us. We are human and somewhere in our nature we have decided that when someone has done to wrong that we should wash our hands of them.In (John 10:28)the bible says My sheep shall not perish, then certainly Hebrews 6 will not teach that some of them do. Paul the Holy Spirit assures us that nothing can separate the children from the love of their Father then, without doubt, the portion now before us does not declare that something will. It may not always be easy to discover the perfect consistency of one scripture with another, yet we must hold fast to the unerring harmony and integrity of God’s Truth. In saying this I believe that we can our selves separate our love from him. He doesn't move we do his love remains the same it is our own will and way that pulls us from him.
I do think there are times when we are in a position to fall. These times are times of testing. It is when we allow other things to choke out the word of God, that we fail. I don’t think if we confess and believe on Jesus that our salvation can be taken. However I do believe that if we openly or in our heart deny the power of God and willingly turn and mock God we are sitting in the line of judgment. I believe that knowing and denying, is what could put us in a position to be judged. However, I still am not sure of what would become of you. Look at Paul, God used him, and he persecuted Christians. I will not be one to find out.
