Your word is your bond means you mean exactly what your say and nothing different..

" Your word is your bond"

This statement was one, my dad spoke to us about all the time, as a young child growing up; with six other siblings, younger than me. We were all taught that your word is your bond, this statement means to aways honor your word. My dad would always tell us this, but you didn't realize what he was talking about until you reached adulthood. Now that I'm older and have realized life; I understand what my dear old dad was trying to instill in his children.

He told us if we tell someone something, then we should do whatever we said, that we told the person we would do. Your word is your bond means exactly what you say. In my years of living and trying to treat others the way I wanted to be treated, I have always tried to be honest and tell a person exactly what I mean, when I said, whatever I said.

If you tell someone you're going to do something, then honor the vows you made to that person, because you don't want to build your life on a stack of lies. I for one, cannot stand a lier, so don't make me any promises you can't or want keep. Honesty and truth comes from your ability to honor your word in life.

If you live your life with honesty and humility, people will honor you and respect you because they know they can trust you and your word; regardless of any other circumstances. If you continue to make constant promises and never keep them, then your word want be worth anything to anyone.

Try to always live your life where anyone can give you a good recommendation as a honest and trustworthy person. You don't want your life shaded by darkness because of not being able to tell the truth, and live accordingly. My dad is dead and gone, but he made me realize that my word is my bond, it's a true saying that I live my life by each and every day.

Now I have to be a man an let my other go to my deal I made. But I'm the bigger person on this . My parents raised me right. Do as u want others to do unto u. God bless

I love this .... I was just told a lie. I told about a mower a guy wanted to sell and so I made a another guy a deal on my old one. So when it was time to get it he never awnserd the phone nether called back the whole weekend. I had my hopes up high, plus I thought highly of him seemed like a great guy. So I called him from a friends phone

Great article Creative, my granparents also taught me the same thing. I agree with James that if we could still be the kind of society where a handshake sealed a deal then we would spend much less on attorneys fees.

Happy Holidays,

Chris

You have written a wonderful message here. I was taught the same thing: your word is your bond. My grandfather used to tell me that in his day people bought and sold land and all kinds of things on a handshake—not written contracts and no lawyers. It surely has changed dramatically in this country since then. I enjoyed your Hub. Thanks.

So true, so true. Sadly, we live in a society where nothing is sacred anymore, including a person's promise. But that's neither her nor there. Has individuals we have a choice to make - be honorable or not. The decision is our own. Nice one again creativeone59
