How do you know the right discipline for your child?
Children are very unique apart from each other. There are instances when the discipline that works for one child might not work for another. As a parent, how do you know which discipline best fits your child based on age, gender and upbringing? Would it be enough to trust your instincts as a parent or should you go for professional advice?
My child(ren)..........each of the three of them, have themselves revealed this.
All, that I had to do , was , listen, watch, and observe. Each one, in their own leading.
No disrespect intended for the "professional", but NO professional lives, day to day, hour to hour, meal to meal, with my child., takes them to the doctor, goes to the various school functions, helps with spelling, or math, teaches them personal responsibilty, tidiness, reminds them to feed or bathe their pet, doles out an allowance for chores..........that is MY role. I surpass the "professional" role.......I AM THE MAMA........even my beloved hubby takes a back seat to motherhood. It IS this way.
I answered this and it kept telling me my answer is too long so I am doing a hub with your question called "How Do You Choose The Right Discipline For Your Child?"
You raised a good question and I didn't want to shorten my answer as I felt it would not adequately answer your question. Thank You for asking and I should have the hub done soon. I think a lot of people can benefit from this question. Thanks again.
Sincerely,
Stephanie
How old are these children? if they are below adolescent age then I believe you still have the control mommy. I am not an expert but I certainly know one thing that is proven true to everyone. Whatever you want to last in yourself, "MAKE IT A HABIT", we all know what's right and wrong, and discipline is the rightful preference of doing what needs to be done over what your impulses tells you to do. Teach them what's right and wrong, then make it a habit to them to always prefer to do the right thing over the inducing. If discipline becomes their habit, then they will be disciplined for life.
Sometimes parents did not know how to handle a child's situation but parents will always be the best friend of their child try to talk to them and I guess it will be best to take both sides first.
I think a mothers instincts are more worthy than a professionals in many instances. If you have a child that has additional problems, then you may want to seek the advice of a professional, but always go with your gut feeling when it comes to your own children. you know the old saying "mothers know best"

Is it wrong to publicly correct a mother on how NOT to discipline her child in the streets? The other day, I saw a mother vehemently shake and drag her young crying child (who seemed about 3 years old) in the streets, while leaving Target. In New York, if you call the police on harsh public...

My son was punished by his father for wetting his pants by "squeezing his penis really hard."...Would you agree that this is abuse? I know every parent will eventually overreact to something their child has done in negative way; I dont think this is just a case of yelling or spanking over...

What would you do if you saw someone smack a child?Out shopping, I challenged a grandmother who smacked her toddler grandchild alongside me, because he was whingeing. We ended up having a row in the street, which I've never done with anyone before. How would you have acted?
