If it's not too late, the best strategy is to avoid it altogether by making sure your life doesn't solely revolve around your kids. From the moment they're born, it's vital that you maintain a life of your own, just as you did before you had kids. Keep time for yourself. Take care of yourself and maintain some quality of whatever made you YOU before kids. We raise children in order to let them go when they grow so it's important there's something left of us when that happens. Take care of yourself as a person and if you have a spouse or partner, maintain what matters as a couple so that you aren't strangers to each other when you find yourselves a "twosome" again.
