   I watched the new Looney Toons with Bugs and Daffy a couple weeks ago and felt  very strange about it. The cartoons were laced with modern issues of the day, like unemployment, talking about enabling unwanted behaviors and others. I wasn't expecting it.

   I have to admit I loved the old-time cartoons that just plain entertained me as a kid. There was some learning involved since sometimes the cartoons showed kids how to act or not to act in a given situation, but mostly it was pure fun and entertainment. I know I never thought it was real and never thought of dropping an anvil on someone's head or shoot them with a shotgun. Those thoughts did not enter my mind.
   
   As far as today's cartoons they can sometimes be "too much" in my opinion. Some are still just plain entertaining while others are actually kind of gross incorporating bodily functions into the cartoon or show. While I have nothing against bodily functions, nor to I deny them I do think it is important to teach kids discretion on certain subject matters.
   
   That is just my 2 cents. As far as whether kids should watch the new shows that is a judgement call each parent has to make. Personally I always watched cartoons and shows with my kids so I could explain anything that confused or bothered them.

   I think the artwork was better in the 60's, more detail and not computer generated.  But subject matter seems better today, at least on the ones I've seen.

   I am a cartoon fan. My perception of cartoons have changed as I have matured. Before ,I could enjoy a looney toons episode from the 1940's and find it hillarious. Now when I see them, I am fully aware of the mature content it had. Disney in the 1920's -2000's have topics and references that only an adult can aprecciate.
   
   My kids have shown me the next generation of cartoons. To say the least, I wonder about the writers sanity and, sense of entertainment. Maybe i am getting old, like my son told me yesterday. But my overall opinion of today's cartoons is that every five minutes you spend watching these programs, you loose IQ exponentialy.

   I think that they're definitely different, but not in a bad way -- as times change, so does entertainment. Not just children's entertainment has changed, but all types of entertainment.
   
   As a 90s kid, I was a huge fan of cartoons such as Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Cow and Chicken, and Rocko's Modern World (all at the time questionable cartoons vs. past cartoons). I wasn't amused by 60s or 70s cartoons, though I did enjoy older ones such as Tom and Jerry and some Loony Toons (lets face it, those are timeless).
   
   I think cartoons today are just fine though, personally. Sure there might be one or two episodes here and there throughout the cartoon world that could use some adjusting, but when parents shield their kids from cartoons nowadays it irks me, because like I said, ALL forms of entertainment have changed. With that said, I absolutely LOVE the weird cartoons of today (Adventure Time all the way!).
   
   Food for thought: Where did all these weird cartoons come from? Well the 80s kids, that's where! Now that they've gotten their hands on such mediums, they're able to express themselves. I can only imagine what my generation (90s kids) will have next Haha
