    Teaching your child to be a good person (in both ethics and etiquette) is the greatest thing you can do for him or her.

    I would say real world education.  Showing them how to behave, how to act, etc. is something that seems lost on too many of our youth these days.

    I believe that involved parents can take this task but they have to want to do it.  Being a parent comes with certain responsibilities that we cannot overlook; our future really does depend on it.

    I would say giving your child your utmost love and trust, and letting them know that you above all believe in them is the best gift of all.

    The ability to think for himself/herself, because if they can do that then everything else tends to fall into place.
