Did you bond immediately with your newborn or did it take time?
Some mothers (and fathers) report an instant bond with their newborn, while others say it took them time to form an emotional attachment. Which category did you fall into?
I had an immediate bond upon meeting both of my children--such a feeling! And strange, maybe, because with both of them--while I was pregnant--I felt loving and curious about my hitch-hiker, but didn't experience the full feeling until meeting them in person.
A little of both really. My first child has some minor problems so was in the nursery. When they finally brought her to me the second day, and I was holding her - just the two of us, a love swept over me so complete it was almost frightening.
My second child took a little longer, only because she had to stay in the hospital longer than I did for some testing. She turned out to be absolute fine but that "ah ha" moment finally happened for me when she came home and was in my arms.
It was not immediate, so I felt somehow strange, but I had twins and I heard with twins that often happens, because you actually don't have the time you need to be with just your one child, hold him, look at him, basically to adore him and know him, there is another baby and you get a little divided not knowing exactly who to look at, when you actually do have time to look properly with calm at them. Anyway, at this point in time I think that has little meaning...
I had that bond before any of them were even born! I have a friend however that took nearly 6 months to fully bond with her daughter. I think both sides are very normal.
I have had 8children.Yes they are all mine! I myself bonded with my children immediately.I have a son who is with the Lord Our Father. When he passed away at 2months old,I was not as hurtful as most parents would be.Reason being is because I have visions in my dreams that I honestly believe God sends to me to prepare me for the worst before it happens so I won't go off the deep end.I do not get the actuall person in my life that these things might happen to.I get what I like to call "Signs".
I did, but I've had friends who didn't. I think it just depends on a lot of different factors.

In your opinion which do you feel is more important a mother & child bond or a father & child bond?I understand that having a parent not there has drawbacks, no matter which one it is, but I just want to know which people in general felt was more influential.

First time parents, what did you think when you first brought your newborn home? When my wife and I got home, we sat on the couch for a long while, and stared at each other and the baby, not quite sure what to do. It was a little strange. I guess we were in shock.
