This is a very easy question to answer. Mainly because of the lyrics and the messages that are being sung in the songs that kids listen to. The words and messages in songs are very powerful to young and influential minds. Singing groups that appeal to young people today are very persuasive and influential to them especially if they are perceived to be cool or the latest modern trend that their friends are listening to.
Kids today are just like they were years ago, wanting to fit in and be liked and they want to be popular. It is also common for a lot of young kids to be rebellious and these pop stars whether in the rock 'n roll country rap or whatever may tend to have some rebellious undertones in the lyrics of their songs that appeal to young people. Some heavy metal groups sing about suicide, drug abuse, sex and overall general lawlessness not just heavy metal but the various types of music that young people are listening to today.
Also you have to weigh in peer pressure and how well that individual child is able to make decisions on their own and their upbringing on whether or not they have been taught right from wrong and if their character is that of a young person who will do the right thing and not be swayed by peer pressure. It all boils down to the child at whatever age they happen to be making the right or wrong decision no matter what kind of influences they have in their life.
