Attention moms: how do you balance motherhood, career, marriage, the house and your sanity?
I let something drop -- namely, the last one . In all seriousness, though...I am a self-employed work-at-home mother, and I have a wonderful househusband who does most of the housework and cooking, while we both split childcare duties. Our second child together (third in the house) is due any day, and I can honestly say that I don't know how I would do it without having a true partner in this marriage. None of us are super woman, and sometimes there's just way too much for one person to juggle alone.
In my first marriage, I was expected to be able to handle all of the above entirely on my own, while coddling my then-husband every step of the way. We both worked full-time outside jobs for most of our marriage, yet somehow when we both got home from a long day it was okay for him to sit and play video games because he was tired, but it wasn't okay for me to take a break until all of the household chores and other such "woman's work" had been finished. He spent more time yelling at me for the things I hadn't finished yet than he would have spent simply doing them himself, and in many ways it was more work than having an additional child in the house. Since then, there has been no room in my life for a man who isn't willing to assume an equal share in the responsibilities from which we both benefit.
Unreal! I'm glad you have found someone who is happy to share the responsibilities equally. These days, it's absolutely critical for survival.
I let things drop too. For me it is usually the household (or my sanity..) I have 5 kids, I homeschool them, we own a small homestead with a lot of animals, my husband works fulltime an hour away.
It is important to have a true partner. You need to figure out a system that works to divide the house, kids, budgeting, etc and you both need to happy with that system. My only other advice is to get the kids helping around the house at a young age and put them to bed early enough to have alone time at night with your spouse.

Marriages hit rough spots, sometimes long ones too. Put two separate individuals in an intimate relationship and arguments/fights are normal, eventually, even if the love is still strong. The frequency of arguments may increase gradually, or the length of arguments will increase. A person...
