   Well if you don't know you can't fear. How can you not be blissful if you don't know of any good or ill in the world?

   I think ignorance is bliss until the consequences of your ignorance cause you problems.  Then you find that remaining ignorant about issues that can seriously damage your life isn't so great.  For example, women who don't examine themselves monthly and then find out they have an advanced stage of breast cancer.
   
   Remaining ignorant is not such a great thing because sooner or later that ignorance will harm you.

   Because I'm generally optimistic and tend to look at the bright side of any coin, my husband used to joke and say that I've been blessed with ignorance. Nowadays, he thanks his lucky stars that I've got this attitude, but that's not 'ignorance'. In a way not knowing the ugliness of subjects does give one a peace of mind, but it is not a good thing in the long run, because this ugliness will probably catch up with you. So in answer to your question, in the long run (in the end), 'ignorance' is not bliss.

   One can have a false sense of bliss from ignorance, but I prefer knowledge. Fixation on dark things, is not a good approach, though. It's best to know the bad, but focus on the good.
   
   For instance, it's good to know that America is shredding its Constitution and becoming a tyrannical state, but it is good to focus on what is still good in America and to know that we need to walk away (boycott) the Corporate-polluted government through peaceful civil disobedience.
