   If your child was bullied for their looks, would you go along with or offer cosmetic surgery?
   
   It could be prominent ears, nose, no jaw line, whatever the case that caused your child to be bullied. Would you build your child up from within, enhance the external, or do a combination of both for your child that was under the age of 18?

   If it is...Before you take a knife to your child, consider teaching them the following life lesson:
   
   People's opinions are like @$$holes. Everyone has one. Are you going to go down there and take a whiff of that? Probably not. If you do, keep in mind, ''if you go around sniffing people's butts all the time, its no wonder you always have 's**t' bothering you.''

      I don't know why some people would do it, but people are. I am a young lady who's never been pregnant or married but have read how parents do this to their kids. Bullies will joke about the fact that the kid had surgery & find other topics as wel

   No, this is not the solution. We must teach our kids is what matters is character rather than look. EVERYONE BLACK, WHITE, SHORT, LONG, ARAB ,NON ARABS are equal in status. The best one is the one who fears his lord most. The knowledge and the character will make the difference.

      I agree. I stumbled onto an article stating that some bullied kids are getting cosmetic surgery. This doesn't resolve the potential for the victims' being bullied and doesn't change the behavior of the bullies.

   I think at the end of the day the only person who should make such a decision should be the child themself.
   
   In society it shouldn't matter what our physical appearance is, people of all ages should be accepted for what they are not what they look like. Unfortunately society is not like that and physical appearance is more important than the inner spark of life that makes us all unique. Therefore, if anyone - child or adult - does have some form of physical problem, it can be a lonely and torturous life for them having to cope with bullying and other forms of abuse due to their physical appearance. However, there are many brave people in this world who have this problem and soldier on despite the ignoramuses in our society. So, it should be the child's decision whether or not they feel surgery would help them to cope better with life or if they feel they are strong enough and confident enough to stay with what nature gave them.

      Perhaps if they are fairly mature, the issue is prominent & the bully is firmly dealt with. If nothing's been done to address the bully, the bully wins by making someone change themselves and undergo surgery and they'll likely keep bullying.

   Putting anyone under such an ordeal (cosmetic surgery) has many consequences, the first one being unable to accept his/her appearance; an appearance inherited from the parents, grandparents and the entire family tree. The bullies are the problematic ones; usually of an abusive background or neglected or even made fun of by his/her own problematic family.
   
   If the problem (bullying) is so bad that it comes to the point where the parent must think about putting his child under such a process, then the school ought to take a serious look at its ineffective community. It's better to change schools and consult a psychotherapist on how to build the child's strengths from the inside out.
   
   A good way to start is to find famous people with similar faults; people who are looked up to world wide. One of them was Mother Theresa; very ugly yet one of the most beautiful people the world has ever known.
   
   A cousin of mine had a similar problem with her nose; another cousin of hers kept making her feel inferior about her nose (it was perfectly fine), to the point where my cousin had surgery (I think she was 19). Did anything change? Not a single thing. My cousin still felt inferior because she did not appreciate herself; a problem which stemmed from her own mother.
