Would you move away from your very close family and friends to start a new life?

   Would you move away from your very close family and friends to start a new life?
   
   What would it take for you to be able to leave your home town with the family and friends you have grown up with all your life?  You may move somewhere that is too far to just drive and visit regularly.  Could you do it?  Would you think about it for months or years?  or would you just think "life is too short"  and take the chance and go for it?

   When I was 17, in foster care, my case worker came to me and asked me if I wanted to go to a new placement in my home town or in one 4 hours from home. I'm from the very bottom part of my state and the other placement was at the very top. I picked the one 4 hours from home. I've been here for the last 12 years and am just now starting to miss home. I drive down once or twice a year, but the lifestyle is very different where I am than where I came from. At first the quiet country life was great. Now, not so much! Every time we go down for a visit I spend a couple weeks sad when I get back. My husband and I have made a plan to move there once the children are grown. That's going to be a long 16 years to wait!

   I would and I have, many times.   The lure of the unknown would pull me away, and I wouldn't fight it!
   
   Such moves are quite an adventure and, for me, all of mine have worked out well.

   I've moved all over leaving the familiar and friends behind. But our family has always been together.  Both of my kids and their families are here in the same town, and frankly there is nothing that could make me move away from those precious faces.  Family is more important to me that anything a new location has to offer.

   I'm with TimeTraveler. I've done this at least four or five times and never has it cost me any true friends. Today with social media, it's even easier to remain closely connected to the folks I want close ties with. Of course, it makes getting away from those I don't nigh on to impossible!

   yes, i would move away from them because our relationship are not close at all. Everyone are using each other, there is no love nor care feelings in both friends, family or relatives. Visiting them once a month should be sufficient to improve the relationship.

   Nope.
   
   I rather staying where I am with my family and friends. In life, that is what it is all about having family and friends around. Unless you are having a bad relationship otherwise what is the point of leaving them behind.
   
   If I am to move, it will be with my family first. As for friends, I will still be able to visit them occasionally.
